Rejecting a used car from an independent dealer

Yeah that was it. They helped me no end. Shame they no longer exist.

And maybe contact citizens advice. There is another service but I can't remember the name. It's similar and free. You update them and they offer advice. Even help you write letters of complaints.

I wouldn't give up, and let the dealer get away with it. It maybe hassle but worth pestering them all the time.

I contacted them to establish my basic statutory rights, and will keep them updated on everything that occurs so that it's on record.

Oh, and Sippo, I notice you're in Swindon - not too far from me.

The dealers, 'Just Cars' (formerly 'Wood's Vehicle sales'), are based in Swindon, and my advice would be to not touch them with a 10' barge pole (unless there's some force behind it..)

Are they the ones in Cheney manor ind estate? If so, they seem a bit suspect. They went from 5 cars for sale to about 40 over night.

Yep that's them!

They seemed to be in the process of changing their name from 'Wood's Vehicle Sales' to 'Just Cars' around the time I was buying.  The original website doesn't exist anymore - thankfully my receipt and bank statement both say the new name!

Having contacted the warranty company, it sounds as though they don't cover any parts which can be considered as having just 'worn out' - meaning they are probably a dead end for everything apart from the radiator.

Time to get back to Citizens Advice to see what chance I have of extracting something from the rather slippery dealers.

You can understand where the warranty company are coming from, a dealer once offered me an extension to a 3 month warranty at a price on a car I was considering. I looked at the policy as I was interested.......it covered sod all, it was a complete waste of money. For the price of several "upgrades" it would have given me very good cover. I chose to "self insure"

It was with the company that Quinten Wilson advertises, but only the basic level of cover.

On reading the small print the company could easily refuse any claim if the car did not have a full service record with all services being done on time.

Regards all

Juan
