Gearbox Problem

Featured Replies

Sometimes when shifting into reverse im finding that the gear does not slot straight in. When I press down on the knob, shift it to the left, when i then shift it up into reverse sometimes it doesnt go in properly.

Also sometimes when im pulling the gearbox out of reverse i find it hard to pull the gearstick into neutral?

Has anyone had a similar problem or am i doing something wrong?

Are you using the clutch ;)

This is a common trait; mine did it regularly when new not so much now. Particularly first thing in morning.

No need to worry.

Can confirm same problem - we also get complaints on A3/TT -- usually frees off with mileage -- car has to have done a minimum of 2,000 miles before ANY adjustment can be done -- so if you are above that and think it's really bothering you - get it checked - but I suspect you will find it get's better with age.

The gearchange quality that is ......

also possible reverse light switch problem

Yup, Mine does exactly the same thing too. I try to avoid going backwards as much as possible however. No parking sensors!
