Year to date Yeti sales in Europe

Featured Replies

Interesting that in the Automotive News (subscription required) they group the Yeti with the Tiguan class and NOT in the silly baby Juke class.  As we all know that is really where the Yeti belong, even if it is smaller in footprint, since it has the same range of engines as the Tiguan class whereas the Juke class hardly ever has 4x4 drivetrains or engines of the 2,0 size with power up to 170hp.

Having previously owned a Tiguan I agree they are in the same class....but personally I prefer the Yeti

Thanks for posting Johann.

Didn't think I'd seen many Aston Martin Cynets around... Although I have seen two in real life driving on the road!

52 iQ Sales.  Bless.  Maybe Aston Martin has 50 dealers across Europe?  So two for the press fleet and 50 as courtesy cars.   :hi:   I can't see any sane person EVER parting with that sort of money for a tarted up Toyota iQ.

I wonder what the other 17 Skoda customers ordered or do we still make Funs, Pickups and 110's etc?

As you can see from last year's "other" sales that is a run out number going down to zero soon I suspect.  So I suspect it is something like old stock of something that has been discontinued.  I remember seeing the Audi A2 notching up 1 or 2 sales a month until early 2006 (after being discontinued in 2004!)  Same with the Fiat Multipla. So perhaps they are Octavia 1 sales (since they produced these alongside Octy 2 for a while) or something like that?

I've not taken any orders from you.............. whose the supplier  :D  :bandit:

A highly plausible explanation Johann, I prefer my alternative of..... someone mucked it up  :giggle:

I don't think you're allowed to sell me any. :)

Does anyone have the UK/ Europe sales stats for the CitiGo Vs Up! Vs Mii? I've seen plenty of CitiGo's down here, quite a few Up!'s but I can't recall seeing a single Mii out on the road, only ones gathering dust at the dealership.

It is all above in what I posted surely (the second image)? For July:

CityGo: 3,956

Mii: 2,345

Up: 9,732

And from the top 10 segment chart the Citygo and Mii don't even feature:

Frankly I find it a tad odd that people would go for the Up over the Citigo or Mii (apart from brand snobbery). From what my aging eyes can tell is that the primary difference (price excluded) is the shape of the rear quarter window that is swept up to the rear on the Up thus reducing rear side visibility. Given that, why someone would pay more for the same car with that added restriction is just a tad bonkers. I'd go for the Citigo or the Mii....

I guess it could be brand and fashion.....

Back to my cobweb for another snooze.

I see CRV and CX-5 going strong...others sales has dropped.

Having previously owned a Tiguan I agree they are in the same class....but personally I prefer the Yeti

if I look at the price doesn't look as they're in same class, at least it's what they want to tell us :)

Well, there are different ways of looking at this of course. One could be price/budget, but that quickly gets tricky. Doesn't a Yeti differ by something like a factor of x2 between the cheapest OTR price and a more fully-loaded Elegance or L&K? And the same or similar applies to other makes/models. So exactly how do you make your comparison? And do you choose RRP or factor in the different discounts that may be available with some haggling or using DTD etc, but which will also be complicated by other options like 'free' servicing or cheap/0% loans.

I'd suggest that the only simple way of defining a class is by physical size and general characteristics, ie SUV/crossover style, is 4wd available? Etc. You then look at the price spans within the class.

I agree that the starting point has to be the physical size and general characteristics-the fact that we are interested in a particular VAG brand provides scope for some particular comparisons. A tiguan is a vehicle which falls into the same size/general characteristics category as the Yeti and is also a blend of components from the same parts bin. Tata no doubt feel able to charge some premium for the cachet of the "Range Rover" brand and customers can assess how much extra they are willing to pay to be able to be associated with Victoria Beckham. How much is a VW badge part of the Tiguan's value?

How about Mokka, i tested one  the other day looks similar - haldex 4x4, buid quality, price etc. The space only was kinda limited.

Curious to know why you prefer the Yeti over the Tiguan.

Aside from styling, which is obviously down to personal preference, the UP rides better. At first I thought it was just the magazines pandering to VW Press Info but then I tried both, noticed a little difference, and checked the technical specs. It isn't just down to suspension tuning, the UP has longer travel suspension (including regular and Greentech/Sport lowered versions). Residual values may also figure for some folk.

Well you learn something new every day. Thanks for educating me, I didn't know the UP had different suspension.
