Trolley Jack and Jacking Points ?

Featured Replies

There are two domed plates with a center hole just inboard of the rear sill jacking points.

I use these for axle stands without problem, the are easy enough to spot, being attached by 2 bolts.

Thanks Mic Mac Yes I use the trolley jack there too but that is my problem jack on axle stand place where did you jack please?

Unfortunately I use the widow maker at present on the sill, sometimes with a brick for added height before placing axle stands on aforementioned domes.

It is a pain but you could use the widow maker to raise the tyre enough to slip trolley jack under it, gives scope for really hoiking it up, be sure to chock the diagonally opposed wheel and ensure hand brake is fully applied and works well.

Or if you're lazy simply drive over jack head, use a suitable block of wood etc to act as a step.

Place axle stands under domes.

Or...

Use trolley jack on dome, brick(s) under tyre, release jack.

In any case be wary of lifting one corner of vehicle too far without proper equipment, imbalance occurs easily and can topple axle stands etc especially relevant if you lift both sides one after the other as the lateral stress can cause the first side to topple with potentially disastrous results.

Always ensure vehicle is steady before working underneath it.

Maybe I need a new jack with rubber slots in

I used my trolley jack with the hockey puck for the first time yesterday and it worked a treat! I can't remember where I bought my trolley jack but I'm sure it was from Aldi.

I always find their kit to be of great quality & value. And their Champagne is fantastic too!

Fancy a bit of DIY with an angle grinder and an old tyre, home made rubber pad!

I thought this was specifically excluded as a rear jacking point? The centre of the rear beam contains concentric bolts which are the ones which are altered to adjust the rear alignment.

I'm sure I've read on here never to jack here.

Mike

There is room in the centre to get a jack pad in without touching the arms or any bolts.
