Can't you use the brush on stuff then??

At a pinch yes, but spray looks better.

Went to my local Halfords yesterday (Huddersfield)

Any other stores near enough to travel? I went yesterday after work and got the primer, spray and some Thinners and a brush. They even gave me a ripspeed catalogue [sarcasm]yay![/sarcasm].

Keep seeing some nice 17" alloys in there though, so I'm gonna stop going now. My wallet complained to my brain.

One thing I noticed when stripping down the caliper/carrier is there's no rubber boot on the sliders. Is that normal? Just seems a little prone to corrosion with it being bare metal exposed to the elements.

Just fitted mine today. Job went well considering I make fish and chips. Dont really do the grazed knuckle/oily hands thing, but a very straightforward job. I painted mine with a brush. Hammerite smooth is called smooth for a reason. It dried........smooth. Looks as good as a spray job, and I am an incompetent fool.

Obviously this is down to skill and personal taste as whether to brush or spray.

Performance wise, i let them get warm, then took it to 70mph and pushed the middle pedal. I thought my face was going to come off!!!  Back end went v v v light, but I read somewhere on here that the electronics learn that its got BFO brakes on the front and sorts all this out after a bit. Is this right?

A very worthwhile and straightforward mod. I can recommend doing it. I used the kit supplied by steve.

Good news mate, you should find it so much more satisfying when you do the job yourself.

I'm still bedding mine in but I have tested them a little and I can tell they are going to be good :D

Did you get on all right with the original hoses or use the TT ones?

Just on with putting the primer on mine. Then I'll spray them with the Hammerite tomorrow night, after work. I'll use my secret weapon again! It's a pistol grip for aerosols. Does a great job & is easy on the finger (remember my satin black strut brace?).

I'll let them dry over night & then fit them Sat am.

Can't wait! :D

You are right mate, it was very satisfying standing back admiring my handywork. AND I didn't have any bits left over or break anything.....:P

I thought the original hoses were a bit tight to be honest, so I used the TT ones. I was a bit apprehensive having looked at the top attachment and clip, but I took my time on the first side. The second side took 15 mins after getting the wheel off, to putting the wheel back on again with the new brakes fitted. I was well chuffed. The first side took about 45 mins.

Might have a go at putting the TT hoses on then.

How easy is it to undo & refit the hose joint?

Not difficult Jon.

Look at the end of the TT hose and you will see it is shaped and will only fit in one way.

Have your tt hose handy when you do yhis. Undo the nut on the metal brake pipe on the car. The clip will slacken off too. You have to turn the rubber hose and pull down until it will come out. As said, it is shaped so it will only come out, go in one way. As soon as its off, refit the tt hose and tighten up. I had the other end clamped so as not to lose too much fluid.

Easier than it looks.

Good luck.

OK I understand now. It's a bayonet fixing.
