Spot on! I approve, you may leave them on lol

Right been looking on line and there is a choice of 2 h&r springs up to 900kg and over 900 kg which would I need? Being a 1.4 tdi I would think the over 900 kg ones?

Cheers sparkly will do

Another shot, little ashamed to post as grubby.

Tomorrow it gets a clean and will hopefully post a nice pic.

Guy who fitted thought the springs will settle/drop slightly with time.

Looking good, its spacers now that you need ..20mm on the rear 15mm on the front .

That looks really nice! That is how low the sport suspension should have been from the begining :)

Are there any lowering springs for a Monte? 1.2 (86)

I have found a few, I'm just not to sure if i will be able to use them?

I would add that I think the same 40mm drop on a car with Monte Trim would look really nice.

hi man recently fitted h+r 40mm to my 1.2 (86). and im really happy how it looks, i also fitted 20mm spacers on the rear and 15mm on the front imo i think the spacers are essential to finish the look to 100%.

O.C.D are the spacers purely for the look? Do you have any negatives or positives to share on the drive after fitting or is it no change with the wider track?

Any Reason you went 15mm and 20mm not both the same?

And how close do we come to seeing tread outside the wheel arch with those spacers?

Nice... green with black alloys without the black roof... perfect match...:) my alloys will be black in a month..:)

Hi sparkly, purely for look so I can't really comment on the drive since I haven't been out for a good drive yet as I have been off work  for a few months following a back operation.  I will send you a few photos of the spacers fitted.  Going by advice given to me 20mm on the rear and 15mm on the front seems to be the perfect setup for spacers after the car has been lowered.IMG_3617_zps49847a56.jpg

ive been told that the springs will settle another 5mm or so. hope this helps you.

Looks great. Going to have to go for this on the group buy for my vRS i think. Just need to find someone/somewhere that will fit them. Did you or will you be having the wheel geometry looked at? Do you think this necessary?

Looking good.

Ordered mine the same time, my RARB turned up but not the springs ha typical... Mess up with the courier.

Got the bar on today tho, you won't be disappointed!

Seeing yours so low has made me a little impatient to get my springs suddenly.

Should get a good comparison now tho, stock with RARB vs springs with RARB.

Also, love to hear your thoughts on the RARB with std springs, or is it not fitted yet?

I was fortunate and a friend of a friend at a local garage threw the springs on for me for mate's rates leaving me cash spare to take the car to a place with the full Hunter Four Wheel Laser Alignment System. I think it's the best plan.

I don't think fitting springs is something out of the reach of a regular garage. The alignment I think it's worth going to someone with the gear that specialises in this. It's about what is in your area how you plan it.

Yeah it's on, took about 40mins using trolley jack and axel stands, the bar was a bit difficult squeezing between the shocks. I used a flat piece of metal levering it and had a friend help push it into place. It's as simple as it looks.

As for the improvements, first thing I did was go find a few roundabouts and a few twisty but unfortunately started to rain.

Turning in the car feels so much more planted at the front, vast improvement on the understeer situation in the wet . Changing direction quickly through corners feels a lot more planted even in the wet. I had 1 little tail happy moment on a roundabout where the rear stepped out, I'm running 215/40/17's brand new prada spec 2's on the front and the back need changing so probably more to do with lack of tread and damp roads.

Hopefully it dries up tomorrow, if it does ill let you know my findings. Im more than happy already tho.

OK, so this morning, I gave my car the acid test.  With the baby seat empty and a lovely route into work over the top edge of the Peak Districts between Yorskhire and Lancashire.  With moderate road surfacing, chopping and changing cambers, ascents and steep descents and a virtual selection box of corners this is a real treat to drive and a great work out to test the vRS.

So the first thing that you really note is stability at speed, the second thing that you note is stability at speed in corners.  I am still reeling at what a transformation such a small investment has made to the handling.  The car handles so much flatter in cornering, albeit with still some residual body roll but not much, I am wondering how much the RARB will add.  I kept having to check my speedo to see that I was taking the corners at my usual speed and on occasions I was 5mph or so up but it actually felt like I was going slower such was the way the little car shrugged them off compared to on the stock springs.

I will add a couple words of warning though, today it is very wet where I live and drive and through some over exuberance on my part having been egged on by my Furby's performance I took a couple of 90 degree turns more than a shade faster than I normally would in the dry (on this occasion didn't keep tabs on my speedo).  I had left plenty of room for the usual understeery shernanigans and the road was clear for miles, however what I was unprepared for was oversteer.  Oh yes Mean Green now oversteers.  The resulting hamster on a treadmill I performed on the steering wheel, whilst accidentally sounding the horn and soiling myself was as far from looking cool as is possible.  So a word to the wise, this upgrade is awesome in my book, but let's all remember that grip will always be finite, especially in the wet

And secondly, be cautious adding these to your car, they may make your current fave driving road seem a little tame.  Instigating the search for more challenging tarmac

Mentioned to Alex this morning that you were missing your springs, he is looking into it and said he'd be in touch.

Hey O.C.D, can you let me know what spec wheels are those, my Gigaro's are 205/40/17 ET41. I'm wondering whether 15mm front and 20mm rear will step my wheels out any further than yours as they are different model.
