Blocking grilles in winter

Will do. It arrived this week. I have to say I'm not overly impressed with the finish of it as it's attached via two brass clip with screws through the front.

Still, if it does its job, I'll be happy. I'm going to leave it a week or two before fitting when temps should've dropped to single figures. I'll post some pics when it's on.

Here it is... Apologies for the bad picture including finger over lens...

It's made out of the same perpex as wind deflectors, so the brass screws bend the plastic and care needs to be taken no to over tighten them.

If you're fussy about how things look, I would say this isn't for you. Hopefully it'll warm up a bit quicker in the mornings now anyway as the temperature's set to drop over the next week or so.

Looks fine. Is be tempted to paint the silver rivets/screw heads you can see.

Hmm tempted! Let us know how you get along with this :)

I'll probably leave the screws as they are, mainly so it doesn't hamper getting the thing off when winter's passed. I'm not too bothered how it looks, so long as it has a positive effect.

I went out in the car last night (I can't drive today as I've been to the eye hospital) and I had warm air from the heaters within a mile and according to the needle on the dash the coolant was up to 90degrees by around two miles. Both are half the distance it's been taking the past week or so, and it was cooler last night.

It'll be interesting to see if it affects MPG positively on a longer run too. I should have an idea after tomorrow as I'm working in Manchester in the evening. The return trip normally gives me about 45-49MPG on the dash readout (Snake Pass A57, so it's hilly and twisty!). I just need to get the brake fluid changed in the morning to sort my spongey brakes!

Well the dash readout gave me 55MPG one way, and 61MPG for the return (mainly because I got stuck behind a slower driver, I think). The heaters definitely come on quicker.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions! It's much appreciated
