Big thanks to Dirty Torque!

Featured Replies

Cannot thank Dean and Karl enough!

As some of you know I was humming and haring about a bigger turbo for a while. Me and Dean exchanged a few emails and I decided to pop down for a chat. Never felt so welcomed at a garage, was promptly offered countless cups of tea and they both answered any questions I had!

Just 2 hours after getting home I had located a donor turbo which Dirty Torque could work their magic on. I decided to go for the stage 2 with billet wheel option.

Dropped the car off on late Wednesday evening and Dean and Karl set to work straight away.

The work they do and their turn around is amazing considering they both also have daily jobs!

I left the car there till Saturday morning, was like a kid at Christmas on the way to pick it up and also a little nervous with loads of things running through my head - mainly hoping its everything my mind and Internet posts had built it up to be!

Anyway it exceeds my expectations and more! The car now pulls like a train. Hands down the best modification I have done to the car. The sound blowing from it is just unreal under full chat. The characteristics compared to the standard car are just transformed, I noticed no increased lag just bags and bags of power, the car is eager to go in any gear.

To anyone that's thinking of going for a hybrid turbo, just do it!

Also worth mentioning that I am running standard clutch and flywheel - since

I've had the car back not once have I felt it slip. Will still be having it upgraded for peace of mind in the near future though.

Once again big thanks to Dirty Torque - see you again soon! :)

Glad you are enjoying it mate :D

They are good lads thats for sure ;)

Thanks guys, I would multi quote but I'm on mobile.

Thanks Joe, I will upgrade the clutch and flywheel as and when it needs it, really surprised at how well it copes though. Still a few more plans to come, just looking for a quick car, that looks the part yet retains comfort. Still searching for that leather interior :)

Have to thank you Charlie for taking me out in yours! Knew I had to do it after that ride! No idea what power mate, hoping to get it on a rolling road soon :) I'm not too fussed on figures, I'm really happy with how it pulls and the noise is just incredible haha!

Hi Dan, did you have a standard turbo before the switch? Have you got a stage one map do you think it will benefit from a remap now the hybrid is fitted?

Hi mate, I had a standard turbo with a stage 1 map.

Along with the hybrid turbo I also had another remap mate, it now goes like stink!

Ah right thought you would have...even more case for one when mine eventually goes. I'm hoping to get a pd150 that's knackered and hybrid it in preparation for that day...

Glad your enjoying the latest mod!

I would be careful buying a knackered turbo mate, sometimes they can be too knackered for rebuilding :)

I wouldn't wait till it goes pop, I would do it before that happens, be cheaper in the long run to save cleaning out all your intercooler pipes and the risk of any metal entering your engine etc.

Lucky for me though my standard turbo came off the car in very good condition :)

What sort of costs are you looking at to do this? I know the prices of intercoolers etc just wondered about the turbo and hybriding it and then remap etc

ah right, I thought as long as you got a garrett you would be OK.

Yeh, i know what you mean about waiting, but if i got hold of one and got it hybrid i doubt i would wait anyway, though not a chance i could get a new turbo and a remap unless something actually goes wrong, due to poor finances.

Ah right, i didnt realise you had yours taken off and upgraded. Whats the difference between a stage one and two upgrade on a standard turbo? was yours a KKK?

I supplied a PD150 turbo and paid £650 for it to be made hybrid. £300 for a map. There is fitting on too which Dean did and also fitted new gaskets and oil & filter etc :)

It's well worth it Kyle!

Dean is sorting out a package though which will include a brand new turbo, it's going to be a very good price. Email him if your interested!

The turbos can be damaged inside and sometimes stage 2 isn't possible with them. Stage 3 is a possibility though.

I'm unsure what the differences between a stage 1 and stage 2 are. Mine is stage 2 and I cannot see any draw backs which would warrant you to go to stage 1. Must just be different sizes etc I assume.

My standard turbo was a KKK but my pd150 is a Garrett unit.

Are you running an fmic?

On their older turbo I ran a 202bhp with conservative mapping.

The newer turbos with better specs seem to be getting higher figures though ;)

Indeed I am, it's a Seat Sport cooler with my own pipework. Dean commented on how well I've done the kit apart from I need to stick a bead in a couple of the pipes. I'd planned to do that anyway :)

Thats a good figure though. I was chatting to Dean about a rolling road day. I just need to generate some interest to see if anyone wants to pop along, just want to see how much it's running now. The map is pretty clean, when I eventually get a clutch and SMF I don't mind it being a bit smokier.

The way it pulls is amazing. Pulled out to overtake a car before @ 40mph before I knew it the speedo had flown round ;)

ah right where did you source your pd150 from?

will keep an eye out for the dirty torque deal when it come about, though I am a far away moneywise to indulge on non-essential performance mods....yours sounds a bloody beast though!

My mate had it, he bought it off eBay though but owed me some money :)

Keep an eye out for it, if you ever get to the stage probably best to email Dean as he's a very busy man!
