Octavia RS vs. Westfield Replica

Featured Replies

My friend has built a tiger 6 from scratch. Its a lotus 7/westfield replica. Hes just putting the finishing touches to it, should be around 160bhp and will weight around 750kg.

My RS is probably around the 190bhp (not remapped) what are chances on a 1/4 mile?

Not good? :o

chances are you'll be eating dust. ;) I assume its RWD too?

It ought to leave the Octy for dust, power-to-weight and all that.

Should be a laugh trying though :D :D

Yes rwd, the engine is 2.0 ford zetec. What are my chances after remap, boost controller and cat back system?

Better, but slight still. ;) You'll be looking around 230bhp with a car still weighing not much less than double his - You'd need to be approaching 300bhp to start to compete. I should think a RWD car will also get power down really well in comparison to FWD :)

You dont stand a chance.. 1/4 mile it would eat EVERY octy in existance!

even then it would take something like DaveU or the JBSocty to beat it to a ton!.

.

jbs would give it a run

the problem seen before with these is laying the power down from a 0 start, they are that light that its imposible to get any real power down straight away but in terms of 1/4 mile i'd say forget it, however in the wet you may stand a chance due to traction! Were talking on a good day for you here but in the real world forget it and go back to beating furbies!!!!!!!

Im considering one of these replicas, post built of course once I hit 25 for specialist insurance. Its only costing my friend around

160bhp? 750kgs? That's almost like the Megabusa, which is only 120bhp but weighs something like 500kgs...and it still does a 0-60 in about 3.8 seconds.

Don't even bother racing your friend dude :)

there was a westfield/lotus 7 thing forsale on piston heads, it had the VAG 1.8T engine! Now that would be fun!

We've got one of these in the sprint - if I remember I'll make a note of it's 64 foot time.

jbs would give it a run

after watching James struggle to put a time in lower than 13secs on sunday at the VW festival on Santa Pods 1/4 mile i doubt that very much.

ok 30degree heat wont have helped him where power and heat soak is concerned but he just couldnt put the power down off the line. i think the car was still wheel spinning as he got half way up the strip !

this kit car thing is going to have put the power down much easier and been at least 2-3 car lengths ahead by the time anything FWD had hooked up some grip.

forget racing your mate in this thing, your going to look rather silly. i love my octy but theres just some things you dont entertain having a play with.

Just get em over 120 :D

Was catching one at Brunters on the 120 sweeping corner and braking, but then he accel's , then he lost me when it came to the twisty bits, but was only 500 yards in 2.3 miles thanks the to the 120 sweeper and braking again :D

Not a hope on the 1/4.

James is running close to or on 430BHP mind...that beasts key is 160 in 15secs or somthing crazy :D

J thing is with 300bhp you would have problems getting the power down in a FWD car, now a 4x4 would be interesting but you would have to increase the power to compensate for the loss in transmission. :D

The megabusa is a bit more than that - 180hp and <500kg's. In addition a 2.0 zetec engine is about 140 hp in the car !?!?! Other than the exhaust how is it moddified ???

I would expect it to do a 14 - 14.5 1/2 mile. The Octy may do a 15 dead, possibly just under ?

The zetec, has had the head ported, with twin 45's or 40's not too sure, with throttle bodies and webber ecu software.
