Heated seat retrofit

Featured Replies

I've done it.

I don't think a dealer would no, to much work involved really!

No way is that dealer specific work, if it was they would want a grand, those guys are out for high gain low pain an on newish models, unless they are doing basic servicing work.

Retro fit heated seats IMO is lesser gain for higher pain that the Recaro seats themselves.

I know as I've followed Pasty's and did the seats yonks ago, with acquired donor transplant Fabia seats its fairly easy.

After selling my originals which were mint the seats cost me about a ton to do and I did the backs too but DIY retrimmed to fit.

However I think that was the easy bit, really don't fancy the electrics for heated seats - I think I have working seat pads but the rest is a bit of a mystery as to exactly how it needs to be wired.

( noting that I've done retrofit cruise control to dealer standard before car was even out of warranty so not a numpty).

For having an arse toasted just isn't worth the hassle personally. Dress warmer, simples works for me personally.

Good luck to you though if you do get it working and would be useful for someone to get it working.

I don't really see the point now though in investing work in my old diesel now done 132K miles, still a very good runner mind you and still shows a set of heels to lesser cars like Mini Countryman D's BMW 520d's and Peugeot 207's etc :D

Oh yeah Hutchy has done it but if I recall that thread it was not Recaros ? I was commenting on that thread but I think that was the concensus.

I'd stick with the OEM leather mate and work with those, I don't think there is that much difference (possibly a bit more bolster and better quality but I'd not make that much argument on that ),

and I don't think having Recaro heated pads and connections from the Gold makes it easier, probably more confusing if anything.

Hence why I've not fitted mine.

Just retrofit suitable pads to the existing seats to work with the Fabia Switches etc ?
