The joys of being single no need for that "talk".

Only thing I won't have is 2 drivers in the car, I'd only trust two people with driving my car. One wouldn't go and the other my insurance company won't add to the policy.

Is it possible with one driver or is it too long of a drive?

it's a bit of a drive, but broken up with rest stops.

Married with child... not had the talk yet.

Think I'm missing out? :)

You wouldn't trust me to drive your car? :D

You can always passenger with someone else.

It can be done with one driver. In the interests of safety I recommended 2. From memory the journey time for me from landing in France to arriving at the hotel in CZ was circa 13 hours.

IIRC from the 2007 trek the first 'official' rendezvous was at the Czech border. The drawback being that it was a case of set off when the last person arrives, meaning if you were last, there was no rest time

Of course there were several impromptu stops along the way, fuel, driver changes, P 155 stops :giggle:getting lost taking a detour into Bremen (where they make Stella ) and trying to get directions from a local in a corner shop at stupid o'clock in the morning.

From mine in Shropshire it took us 24 hours, didn't sleep on ferry, had to let the Mrs drive for a hour in Germany as I couldn't stay awake.

It's a lot to ask for one driver.

If I went again I would overnight round half way.

I have evidence that suggests otherwise :P

Ha ha

It's definitely 1 hell of a drive for one person but it was the best holiday we have been on :)

Yea tried but I don't like rocking boats, spent most of the trip out on deck felt better out there.

:giggle: I fell asleep in traffic around Bonne. Got nudged by my co-driver and hastily switched seats

It makes sense to me to perhaps consider an early morning crossing so those travelling from farther afield (in the UK) can arrange an overnight stop somewhere close to the ferry port.

That's a great idea. Nothing worse than starting off on an epic journey like this knackered and sleep deprived!

I stupidly drove (had a passanger but I did all the driving) from Bristol > Reading > Bristol > Holland a couple of years ago after nowhere near enough sleep the night before and I really do not suggest it.

This could be fun. My calendar is usually pretty full though, so could I add myself as 12½? I'm also superstitious  :giggle:

I'd meet up with you lot at the Czech border tho. I realize this means I'll miss half the event, but it would be a little silly from where I am to meet you at the ferry :p

I'm going am i?

Might use diesel power if I go again. IF.

I happened to be watching the videos from 2007 last night..... I'd be possibly up for this again - standard comments about cost, time off work blah blah.

As to "Driving it alone", it is possible, I've done it twice. However, this time I'd be tempted to take the Felly and leave a day earlier as I don't think the Felly can maintain the same motorway/autobahn speeds as my Octy vRS could...... :p

Of course Richard but I'd like to get there with tread on my tyres :-p

Funny enough after saying the joys of single like, it must have tempted cupid out of retirement (damn him).

If its later on in 2014 I might be fine as the insurance company might let me add my brother as temporary cover, but depends on what state of tune the octavia is in.

Im hoping its after august time as my insurance is then and thats gotta be main priority :) hopefully a diesel by then aswell :)

Thanks. ;)

I noticed about the second point.  Good luck mate. :sun:

TBH- if you are getting such a late Ferry sleep is a must for that number of hours, alternate crossing is Channel Tunnel, you could leave a little later.

Rats!!!  - would be interested, but already got a school reunion in Germany late June & planned Oktoberfest end of Sept .

Hi, just as RNPhoto said ... I will need to know your route and time plan since it makes no sense for me either to meet up in the UK ... Instead I would like to catch up somewhere along the route ... but count me in as interested, of course if it fits a pretty tight schedule ...
