Dog Guard & Boot Liner

Featured Replies

I wouldn't worry about it being too big :) however, you know they can still get over into the car with just the headrests raised? Also of course if the worse happened and there was an accident, doggy could still go flying over the headrests and wallop you in the head. This is the main reason I like proper dog guards over cheap pressure fitted ones.

I'm still waiting for travall to do their dog guard for the octy 3 as I'm not willing to have my car drilled and won't buy a universal pressure fit one. So my hounds are currently banned from the car lol. It's also cos I want to keep it nice and hair free for just a bit longer hehe

  • Here's my Titancovers boot liner installed. I am quite chuffed with it, cut and fits well. I just need to fiddle with it to smooth out some of the creases. I got it from their eBay store, you get

  • Be careful with the dog guard, we ordered one for our VRS Estate and the dealer called us as the technician fitting it was not happy about having to cut 4 holes in the headlining to fit it. We deceide

My guys travel in the back, I keep the boot for luggage.

I had this made for my two little terrors:

It has a foam cushion under it to raise it up so the dogs can see out:

If you're looking for covers, throws & other bits for the conveying of the most important member of the family...

just got my new car, with dog guard fitted & boot mat. Paid £125 for guard & £49.17 for the boot mat (dealer rounded down the price so didn't end up with a 'silly number').  Mat is very thick/hardwearing & well fitting.

Was told they needed to fit the guard themselves due to special tool but made no big deal of it & was told it would be easy for me to remove if I so wished (not needed to try after just 1 week).

I have the retractable mesh type in my VRS and looks to be of quite good quality. Did have holes drilled in the roof liner, but it's been so well done it looks as if it was always there. No problems with fitting whatsoever. A little fiddly to retract, easier to be put back in.

My other question is, does anyone have the double-sided boot liner in combination with the variable boot floor? I was under the impression that I was going to get it (picked a Simply Clever pack), but no luck. It doesn't seem to be an option with the variable boot floor. Would it fit anyway, if I buy it as an accessory?

Nope it won't. Had a discussion about this with my dealer at the time of order and it's a mistake in the configurator. There are supposed to be two different boot liners - one for normal and one for variable boot floor. But only the one for normal boot exists apparently. This won't fit on the raised boot floor however because it's too long and differently shaped at the rear seats area. Maybe Skoda sorted this out by now...

Well I haven't sorted out a dog guard yet and I'm still using the hatchbag from my x-type until they sort one for the octy but I'm happy to share a picture of the troublesome mutt.

I don't have any pics of them in the Octavia yet.

They look like they are in bags of some sort?

They are in little dog booster seats so that they can see out, but still be safe. Henry gets a bit stressed in the car if he can't see out - I don't use them in the Octavia as I didn't think that the straps that attach them to the seats  were doing the leather any favours.

You're braver than me - I'm not sure I fancy being attached to two dogs while on a bike, particularly if they're as daft as mine!

Look up some bike-joring videos on YouTube, 40mph on a narrow path through trees - dog human communication essential!

Erm we don't do narrow paths through trees lol. Sometimes I just let them free run (not connected) but never close to a road just in case. They def took a bit of training to do it and haven't pulled me over/ sent me flying (yet). I also have them harnesse up with my on roller blades in the summer. I look a tool but they love it. Plus of course I get the sledge out when it snows :) everyone loves to see them pulling me in the sledge hehe

My two are too small to pull a lard-ass like me along, but it doesn't stop them trying:

I was pretty impressed to see mine pull my bf (who is 6'6 and weighed around 18 stone at the time) from a standing start. Hardest bit was that initial momentum but once that was there they were flying along with him (in sledge on snow)

Now that's what I call winter fun, haha! I bet my daughter would love a sledge pulled by dogs... :D

I've spoken to my Skoda dealer and he has told me that the technician needs to cut into the roof lining in order to secure the dog guard for the Octavia. This has put a lot of people off (me included). He has told me that Halfords have a new dog guard out which he recommends. And saves us £40. Plus it can be removed if needed to with ease instead of needing spanners etc.

I have asked my dealer to fit the Skoda one when it arrives for PDI for not a bad price £125 fitted.

@VRS63, I have that one, holes drilled and everything. It looks as if that's how it came from the design board and it's extremely sturdy if I may say so.

Torchythomas, could you post a picture what the dog guard looks like fitted please? This is my next job and boot liner for the mutts.

Sorry it's late , here's the picture. Notice the bumper guard.
