alternative seats for adventure

Featured Replies

Evening all am seriously considering either chopping in lilly unless I can find an alternative for the seating have looked at adding the lumbar kit but you are talkin in excess of £1000 pounds have tried a couple of aftermarket supports but they are too bulky one possibility is a custom made pad which I am currently researching. Another thought is a different pair of front seats from the vw family and keep mine in storage till I swop car again. Did think about ditchin the skoda brand altogether but that don't sit right with me after 6 years of trouble free motoring. Some people will say why didn't we test drive the car first, we did its only when you live with it that these things show up

your thoughts please

The major problem with swopping seats is ensuring that the in-seat airbag connections are compatible.

I would heartily recommend Recaro Cross Sportster CS seats. These are supremely comfortable with great lumbar support and come with airbag modules compatible with the Yeti. Unfortunately, they aren't cheap. I have the Sportster CS seats in my Octavia (same as the Cross Sportster CS but with much higher bolsters which would be annoying in a high up car like the Yeti), and I'm going to miss them dearly when I sell the car.

(i) Absolutely correct in the extended period of time needed to access whether a car seat configuration is comfortable long term.

(ii) Despite being highly motivated to buy a Yeti, but "plumping" for the Octavia due to the larger boot, I now find the seating in the Octavia very comfortable and supportive (though entry and exit a tad tricky with my creaky back)and the last time I sat in a Yeti (recently btw) I felt I was perched on top of the seat and unsupported, compared to the Octavia seating position.

(iii) I did find in the Octavia that if I sat closer to the steering wheel than I felt was natural or comfortable, it forced my lower spine into a better position in the seat (which does have lumbar support)

(iv) I figger the DSG and cruise control also help immensly in allowing me to sit naturally without constantly flexing the lower spine when clutching especially.

Good luck,

Marcus

My wife suffers a similar problem wth backpain even when seats have a lumbar support facility. She eventually 'cured' the problem with a mesh type support bought from Lidl's. Unfortunately Lidl's wigig policy means you have to wait until its next in stock. In the short term you might try a 'roll cushion' suffiently filled to a level that gives you pain relief. Changing to a car that is lower than the Yeti imho means you will have a permanent hassle situation alighting and vacating the vehicle.

we have had 2 octy vrs which was giving me back troubles plus twisting the knee when I was getting in and out so I hoped the move to the yeti would help. it does make it easier to get in and out though which solved one of the issues

My wife wanted a Yeti Adventure and I turned it down in a large part because of the lack of lumbar support. The standard seats without lumbar are awful. Lumbar support should be standard on all models in my opinion. Back pain shouldn't be something you have to combat with an optional extra.

I do sympathise with you. :(

Funny thing, perception, isn't it?

I've now done more than 70k miles in mine, never had an ache or a twinge, and I've got a dodgy back and now "signalman's knee", but have never found a need for lumbar support in the Yeti seats.

Not as many miles yet in the Yeti as you but ditto ^^. Impressed with my Adventure seats in all honesty.

The Recaro should fit no problem. It pays to shop around, I see DemonTweeks even do them on the never-never. When pricing it don't forget the frame is normally extra.(about £60 per side)

Big advantage is you can usually move it to your next car and put the original, probably unused, seats back - might even increase the trade-in value

If you fancy Recaros give Sue at Recaro UK a call and she should be able to give you a good discount on the seats and bases.
