Delivery Delays to Octavia vRS again !

Featured Replies

I Ordered a Vrs Estate on 30th September and was told about 12 weeks. a week later the dealership told me the adaptive cruise control option had been withdrawn from the spec because it would delay it until well into 2014.

I then couldn't get anything out of the dealership or Skoda Uk until this week when SUK told me my car is scheduled for build week 14 of 2014!

Nightmare!

vRS estate ordered 15/11/13 and was told that delivery dates were put back from 12 weeks to 16. My thoughts were ah thats good, the worst of the winter weather will be over and it will be just in time to enjoy my new toy in the coming summer months. As I type this I still haven't been given a build date let alone a delivery date. I have exchanged e-mails several times being as polite as I feel I should but I'm starting to think should I be a bit more forceful, like asking to speak to the boss. That approach I feel would be a waste of time. How about dumping my old car on their doorstep asking for a replacement car until the new one comes ! Thinks I might do that in another month or so. Any comments ?

Having agreed a part exchange value I'm pretty relaxed about the delivery date. But after speaking to the dealership, I did lodge a complaint with SUK and received an explanation (demand / supply / nothing can be done) and an SLI number to track the order with my dealer. I am hoping that making these complaints will stack up to a case for increasing the UK allocation. Judging by delivery times quoted in Europe theirs is much closer to demand.

They should of given you the SLI number with out complaining...its just an order number.

Four months from order and you still have no idea when car will arrive, is not acceptable, and was exactly the situation that I wanted to avoid and prompted me to cancel.

I think, from reading here, it's 18 weeks after order placed that you qualify for temporary car, but I believe it's pending availability from dealer not SUK. So in 2 weeks time you can try this.

Only good thing is that availability seems to be improving and hopefully, given your long wait so far, you'll have good news soon.

Cheers

Ordered 6 Oct. Last guess from the dealer was that it might be built next week. Nothing heard yet, but keeping fingers crossed. No offer of a temporary car. If all goes smoothly from here it will be at least 26 weeks from order to arrival...

26 weeks to the day here.......

....and still counting.

There is a little light at the end of the tunnel though.

For updates email [email protected].

Give them any info you have, ie Name where car ordered, date ,what model etc.Don't bore you them with option lists.

Usually get a very pleasent person that will call you (give them contact numbers)that will inform you of what they know. Its not their fault they are just the messenger and are rushed off their feet with WHERE's MY CAR enquiries so may take a few days to get a reply.

In reading this thread I have to say I have been very very lucky. I ordered vrs 12th of Nov and was on the road by the 14th Feb. Candy White hatch, Canton, Blackpack and spare wheel. Must be so frustrating! Good luck guys......on the plus side when you do accept delivery you won't be disappointed :)

Saw a programme the other night about Roll Royce, it struck me, it takes longer to get a Vrs built than one of those. And a lot cheaper.

I ordered my RS Wagon in late August last year and was given a delivery date of end Feb (ie. 2 weeks from now).

Received a notification last week that it would be delayed until end May.

6 months + 3 months... It's a tough ask.

Wow.. That is odd. I ordered my vrs Estate at the beginning of November 14 and it arrived in the UK last week. Ivd be asking for a full explanation for the reason for the delay and press for a courtesy car until the one that you ordered arrives

I would add that i was originally told end of March for so it's a good month and a half early.

It sounds like someone cocked up your order and has had to redo it

I have read on German forums of some guys waiting for over a year and they still have no provisional build week, while others wait less than 3 months. I think the SKODA allocation system for orders is pretty much a lottery, but at least with the lottery you can understand how it works.

I'm gonna pick mine up in 2 hours time having ordered on the Oct 25th, which makes it from order to pickup about 16 weeks.

There was similar differences when I ordered my VW van,

I think one of the problems was with the allocations that had to be pre-booked, dealers were then selling vehicles knowing that they had no slots left and winging it until the next quarter, I suppose if they explained that they couldn't get your car built until their next free slot in the next quarter you'd go to a different dealer. Not sure if Skoda are the same, but suspect there is a similar system in place.

This may not explain all of the delays, but that, and stock of parts etc could soon mount up
