I have covered 60,000 miles on my octavia rs now on a mixture of super unleaded and lpg gas. It has a K&N induction kit and a remap. For the good part of this milage I have thrashed the tit's of it. Redlining and holding gears for far to long but it run's like new.

3rd one seemed appropriate...

I'm often trying to maximise mpg to my best efforts' date=' but a lot of the time I'm just in a f*** it mood and give it some beans, but never over the speed limit unless on private roads or a racetrack.

I believe they call it "making progress" ;)[/quote']

'Give it some beans'

Jason, you can't move 2 yards near your place without being stopped by either tractors or bloody pillars in the middle of the road

Also there is this guy who keeps pushing his car about ;)

* btw managed to get that loom sorted? *

On its way ;) Well, I say that - I've ordered it, but left the bloke plenty of time to sort out a thorough intact removal. We chatted for quite a while because it seems Hills do all kinds of conversions such as the classic IHI 1.8T into the MkII Golf GTIs.

He sounded quite impressed when I told him I should have a 200+ bhp diesel at the end of it all. :D

It depends on money really! If i'm fairly flushed i love to floor it sometimes, but usually go for more economy, i give this governement enough of my money already!

Thrash at every opportunity.Sensibly of course and never get bored of it.

It's the reason I bought the car otherwise I would have gone for a 1.1 Metro to tootle

I thrash the bo11ock5 off mine where safe to do so.

I won't own it out of warranty so I'm getting my money's worth.

You need to ask !!!!!!!!!!!

I like to enjoy my car to it's fullest whenever safe to do so. Like others have said, it will be someone elses problem when the warranty runs out.;)

warranty? wossat?! :D

Personally, I couldn't give two hoots for mpg, jesus life is too short to worry about that   . I just drive how I see fit, sometimes that means chugging along, sometimes it means booting it BUT since new I have probably looked at my mpg twice. Are there really people out there that are obsessed with mpg readings???? As far as I am concerned my Furb vRS is more economical than my previous Golf, and thats all I am concerned with. Ask me what my mpg average is and I haven't a clue ;)

As a town driver, my mpg is constant irrespective of driving style. I could scoot up a few bus lanes... :rice: :nono:

No point in calculating mpg as I only need typical monthly cost.

Thinking now ...:skatebrd:

Mo

Begrudging ever single penny I contribute to Mr Browns coffers I drive for maximum economy. My previous Skoda was a 110 Octavia LK elegance where I could achieve 65-70 mpg on a run. Alas, although a much better car my Superb Elegance 130 which now has 2500 under its belt is achieving low 40s in mixed traffic. We have just returned from a 1500 trip in Ireland where I achieved 56 mpg on several 150-200 mile trips. Admittedly, I tend to use the manual function of the triptronic as you can achieve earlier gear changes.

BTW, diesel in Ireland is marginally cheaper than petrol. Typically, in the Republic a litre costs between 91 and 103 cents per litre, approx 70pence a litre.

  • 2 weeks later...

Drive around London.... have to be good to dangerous otherwise... still getting 48mpg according the computer everyday... gd old 1.2!
