I dunno what to think about all this tbh. Some of these comments are comical tbh, the one saying people are keyboard warriors then goes on to say how pathetic billy is?! Anyway, it's all about 2 thing

  • Right,   Putting this in order from start.     Dec 2011 I bought the car as totally std. Car had covered 73k and was all original.  Car was good, noticed over time there was some slight knocking

Sounds like one of those laws of averages anomalies, PR wise this is awful and will cost customers in the future so a good will gesture to the OP and his rightful recognition leaves everyone happy ?

Can't wait to get mine!!

"We have to date installed over 60 of these kits ourselves and sold over 100 more globally, our feedback and proven results show us we haven't any tech issues with the kits and to that end we can not offer any refunds on this products"

If the product sold to you isn't fit for purpose or the product is found to be faulty within a reasonable timescale then you may be entitled to a refund under the Sale of Goods Act. How good a companies feedback is or their proven results is irrelevant..

Unfortunately it doesn't take much googling to find a few other displeased customers..

Also distance seller regs too!

You can give any excuse!

I love the forums enthusiasm for consumer regulations but unfortunately we do not have a try before you buy policy, the offer to reline the kit still stands.

Our feedback is positive across this and many forums online. There is the occasional disheartened customer who has become mortally offended that we have not offered a full refund on a product that fits and works but I guess that is what these forums are for.

Our offer still stands to reline the kit and we hope that any serious consumer can see this.

Here are some links to some of our latest offers and developments.

Cheers Andy

I still don't see why you don't get the kit relined? isn't that a start to the solution as they have already said they will not be offering a full refund.

No thanks, just to clarify if I ever need clutch and flywheel I think I'll get a much cheaper standard Sachs/DMF

I have read so many bad things about this company. I honestly can't believe they are still trading with as many failed customers as they seem to have.

I will 100% avoid them when time comes for me to get this done.

The thing is you don't know what these clutches are actually like, you don't own one you're just going by what others say. There are members on this forum that I've spoke to and other forum and their clutches are fine, they have tried to be as helpful as they can by fixing the problem. You don't go and buy a pair of trainers wear them for two weeks find out they're uncomfortable and take them back do you? This is my opinion anyway :)

There doesn't seem to be droves of these satisfied customers backing them up either though.

The ops suggestion seemed valid, in taking the car to them for them to refit it for first hand experience. That way they could point blank say, yes all those symptoms are normal, or actually, yeah that doesn't seem right.

Nothing seems to have been mentioned about the loose spring, excessive wear or lack of performance.

My pennies worth anyway

Theyve only mentioned the issues about the smf noise being more excessive really. And that they retain alot of heat.

Why doesnt cg motorsport allow Billy to let them refit the parts and see the issues with how it drives then it'll be resolved either way.

Be interesting if anyone from here fits one of the kits on offer at 450 quid and see just how good or bad they really are

£450 is a tempting price for forum members, Im still eager to pay £900 for a Helix clutch though, just to be safe :)

Ok heres a update to the offer.

For £450 we will offer a tour around the building, a chance to see everything that goes on here, meet the staff, see what we are all about and how we work and have the kit fitted for free.

We have nothing to hide, I don't see other clutch companies, with far more issues than us, defending their company and product to the same level. We live and die on our reputation and are happy to do what is necessary to keep it.

Also I really do not think there are all these disgruntled customers people claim. Please post any negative feedback found anywhere online in the last 2 years. In that time we have sold just over 10,000 performance clutch kits I would like to see how disgruntled people really are.

Andy

Just a quick reply here.

I am still about. Thanks to all for the comments no matter what.

CG motorsport, if you hadnt attacked me in this way in public you wouldnt of had to "defend" like you are.

I have not ranted, only stated my comparisons and findings so far.

I still feel I am entitled to a refund as you sell these as "performance" kits among other things but so far it has been far from a performance item.

Ill be getting actual weights of the items and comparing them with std and other performance kits and we will see.

Will reply more in depth after work. Dont like typing on my phone.

I've never actually seen an argument so pathetic in my life, can't believe this hasn't been resolved yet. Quite embarrassing that billy won't take up the offer for them to reline it, but hey that's just my opinion. Love all the keyboard warriors who have jumped straight on the band wagon and have no clue what their talking about as well, if you haven't tried this clutch you have literally no opinion of it so can't see why you's don't keep quiet.

I do agree with the above ^ but can't understand why CG motor sports didn't offer to refit the suspect clutch, then make an informative judgement on the situation. It would have saved a lot of flame throwing. Just my 2ps worth.

(I've never actually seen an argument so pathetic in my life)

Clearly doesn't have children yet.... Haha

because it would be returned to how it was new?

and it was not right from new.

end of.

Read my posts buddy and you would know why.

this is described as a "performance kit" is it not?

It is out performed by a standard setup so for that reason alone I am entitled to a refund however its more hassle than its worth to prove it now as I SAID BEFORE! I removed it thinking it was fine to sell on. UNLIKE you my friend I wont sell on just to get money back when I know its not right. A simple reline wouldn't sort the fact that it was less responsive on the car.

Im not sure how this can be seen as a good/viable option. If the clutch was still on the car at the time this was offered, not only does he have to pay another for it to removed and refitted, he would then be left with an undriveable car whilst it is sent off to be redone. Which to most people is unviable as they depend on their car for work etc. You also then have to have a place for the car to stay whilst you wait for the clutch to be redone and most garages wont want a car just sat there for that period of time.

The only way its beneficial is if billy was to sell the clutch on, but then it is totally reasonable the points billy mentions for not selling it on. If there was an issue with the clutch after he sold it then the comeback would come to him, and I'm sure CG wouldn't get involved as they would say it wasn't sold by them so they cant help. So it would then become a complete hassle for billy.

It should be a privilege that a customer has choose to use their clutch over another brand. They should then do their best to keep the customer happy with their clutch as this builds good reputation. Simply offering to remachine the parts so they can be sold on doesn't look like great customer service IMO.

An offer to take a look at it and try and sort it, whether that be correcting fitting if it has been fitted incorrectly previously, or whether it be re machined and fitting. If this wasn't able to sort the problem only then do I believe a refund would be in order. This type of offer would certainly look better on CG as people can see they have really tried to help.

I can't comment on whether CG clutches are good or not along with most people who have an opinion on this. And it can be expected that every company will have a few bad reviews. But unfortunately this saga will leave a lot of people skeptical as to whether their clutches/SMFs are good or not. And even at such a good price, people wont want to risk their hard earned cash. Which is a shame as there is currently a lot of people looking to change over to an uprated clutch and SMF, myself included, and I'm sure most people would genuinely consider such a well priced option.

There's a lesson to be learned here I think..

Just seen this.

you have it in one mate.

they didn't want the kit for inspection, only to re machine it like new as they knew I wanted to sell and as said above, it would be down to me.

as it stands I have a contract with them, suitable compensation must be agreed. IF I had taken this offer then they have upheld their end. so its sorted and over.

I then sell on knowing that the original kit made my car less responsive and worse to drive and the new buyer also notices this, I then have to fight and do the same as CG have done now to me to try keep my money, possibly lose and refund the new buyer, then I have to go through all this again with CG Motorsport.

easier to sort it now.

Someone else has mentioned above that they don't seem to have much confidence in the kit? if they did this would be sorted.

The offer to go up was there and I made it. it was brushed aside.

They terminated PM with me and fired up the thread a lot of you have already read. I have merely responded to that thread in order to justify and defend myself.

People can still have opinions on the overall situation, without having any experience of the clutch.

In my view, it's more to do with customer service than the product itself

Also sorry.

Read my last in the other thread.

That member said it well.

how is the customer service bad when they have offered to repair it Jesus Christ !! Use some common sense pal.

22 posts since my post on another thread yesterday, but regarding CG and billy.

Which proves my point that this will rumble on and on until either of the parties decides to take court action, or a moderator calls 'enough'.

I believe it's healthy to be able to discuss and / or argue on a forum, but it is obvious that this is never going to stop.

Neither party is going to end up smelling of roses, and I feel the whole thing is actually at the point of becoming detrimental to the forum.

Why not either

A agree to disagree, and end this now, or

B find solution by way of court proceedings

I don't know either party, and have no allegiance to either point of view, but reputations are easily tarnished;

This can't be allowed to continue as a long-term slanging match, surely?
