She Is Here

Just a quick update to say that my White TSI vRS Estate arrived on Thursday.

Having only done 40 miles or so, my feelings are this:

 - I hadn't test driven the TSI only the TDI and i must say this feels a lot different. The gearbox is much smoother, the engine is super keen to rev and there is plenty of torque - she can pretty much do most slow corners in 4th!

- The ride is great, not too firm and no undue road noise. Fit and finish is fantastic, no rattles or other issues.

- The cabin feels 'audi-esque' and would be comfortably at home in a VW - it doesn't feel cheap at all. Seats are supportive and I chose the red stitching and this does bring some nice colour to an otherwise very black interior. In my opinion it is just subtle enough so it is not garish.

- Sunset glass and black pack with the stock 'anthracite' alloys are a great combo and the car has real presence (im biased obviously)

- Canton... This is the only part that hasnt impressed me. I read great things about the Canton system and i was really looking forward to the system. It is not impressive as i had been lead to believe - just to get a bit of depth to the sound i have had to turn the sub to full and the bass to full. I am not trying to vibrate the c**p out the car, i just like a good low end. Although there is some bass, if i didn't know better i would have said that the sub was turned off! However, the clarity is great and you can crank it up loud!

- Sound actuator - This is really cool. In sport mode it is very loud and is a great smile enhancer! However, when just driving around, putting it in 'normal' reduces the sound so much that it sounds like most high end german saloons. I think it is great fun and although a bit fake is well worth it!

- Kessy, works well and is really fun - my colleagues at work cant believe the door handles are touch sensitive!

- Oh and no spare wheel - just tons of storage space under the variable floor and what i presume is tyre foam... Hopefully i wont get a flat!

Anyway, got to clean it now - its been blowing hard and when i collected the car it was covered in c**p, so once it is shiny i will add some photos.

Cheers

Pics or it didnt happen...!

Sounds great, hope you enjoy your new car :-)

One question... is the sunset glass dark enough? On the configurator it looks pretty light. Iv ordered it on my white hatch and am hoping the glass is dark enough to bring in the black pack/wheels etc

Cheers

The windows are fairly dark - but not as much as i had hoped. I am considering having them tinted again - though they do show off the black pack quite well.

Pics to come this afternoon.

Ensure you use high bitrate media when trying the Canton as it will make a difference.

Enjoy your motor. My 2 week old car has just had it's first wet run & it's filthy.  Just one point regarding no spare wheel - a friend who does breakdowns suggested I order a spare for mine as the foam is OK for a centre of the tread puncture, but near the edge or sidewall it doesn't work & without a spare you will be "3 wheels on your wagon".

Best £75 you can spend on the options list, worth every penny when your on the side of the M50 at 2 a.m. on a Sunday night with a can of spray cream in your hand.

Am I right in saying that once you use the foam it trashes the tyre?

Tyre can be washed out but most tyre centres won't because of time

Also if sidewall damage or puncture by nail screw in sidewall foam doesn't work but also illegal to fix

Foam is in my opinion *******s ,but hey ho

Two things with the canton - use 320kb mp3s or flac files and the speakers need some running in, (the treble is on the harsh side and sub tight) to begin with so its worth letting them run in before drawing a final conclusion IMO :)

I had read on here somewhere that flac files don't actually work. Meant to try them myself but since me phone doesn't play them I don't have many left!

Yes, one of the worst inventions known to man.

And on the last service of my Focus CC, they wanted £50 to replace the unused can because it was two years past its expiry date (so it lasts four years tops).

Very nice! Mine should be built next week!

Thanks for sharing the pics :)

By the way is the rear bumper protection strip a accessory fitted by the dealer :wonder:

Thanks,

TP

Great pics thanks for sharing.

Are the number plates stuck on or screwed on?

I always replace them with 3d effect plates with the EU/GB side stripe (I do a lot of motoring abroad and it saves having to remember to carry a magnetic GB plate).

Your car looks great :-).

Thanks for posting.

Yours looks almost identical to mine, and it made me decide on having the rear bumper protector fitted. Awesome car, enjoy!

An excellent choice. Enjoy it, but where is the antenna?

Love it!!!!

Very similar to mine, and great to see real life photos of one in a similar spec to mine, I am having candy white estate, black pack, sunset glass, anthracite gemini, heated seats, red stitching, variable boot floor, spare wheel, canton and colour maxidot, so not too far different to yours, really like the look of yours, cant wait for mine to arrive!!!

Enjoy the car :-)

Didn't notice, but yes where is it? :)

Excuse my ignorance but what is the canton and maxi dot??

I can't wait to get mine. I ordered it yonks ago, but been built last week so should get in 3 weeks fingers crossed.

I've gone for candy white VRS estate, TDI, DSG, spare wheel, red stitching.

The more I read on here the more I wish id gone for black pack (did try to add but was too late).

Loving the car btw.....thanks for the pics! Very smart!!

Excuse my ignorance but what is the canton and maxi dot??

Canton is the upgraded speaker system, 10 instead of 8 and includes a Sub.

Maxidot is the info screen in the dash, default is a two tone affair, colour is a paid for option.
