Mitsumi - Album Art....

Featured Replies

So I got my vRS yesterday with the Mitsumi to use with my ipod, seems great so far and work like the MDI in my old one. Only thing i cant figure out is how to get the album art to display, there's no mention of it in the bolero manual and i can't seem to find any settings for it...... it's an old 2006 ipod video if that makes any difference.....

Not all album art will be displayed, depends on the individual album.

Tried a few more albums and still no album at all... bit odd.

I think it depends on the files. I'm not sure if the system looks for an album art file in the album folder or the embedded one in the mp3 file itself.

Some of mine work, some of them don't and some even have the wrong picture.

I haven't had a chance to sit down and see which are which as the pc is in bits due to decorating.

Also, I've got a fair few folders that the system claims contain no playable files. Not sure how as they're all the same format!

Which Mitsumi cable are guys using? The one with the dark blue collar or the newer red collar, the collar is at the end that plugs into the media-in socket. I've read on the a mk7 golf forums the red cable is need for album art and video.... It does actually say in the bolero manual that you can play video with the red one...

So if you go for the mitsumi option do they supply the lead?

No, you have to buy it separately.

Where are you all getting your Mitsumi cables from? Either direct from Skoda or eBay?

Skoda. Might be cheaper on EBay but you've got no guarantee it will work - as this thread proves, it has to be the right cable! Cheapest price not always best value.

Uh oh, I'm not looking forward to using my 'much cheapness, crazzzzeee prices!' eBay mitsumi lead when my car arrives. Might cover my bases and get the red-collared one direct from Skoda too.

The cable is not the problem, red or blue is Ok!

If there is no art in your mp3, AAC or FLAC or some other format, then you can not see any art!

It's so simple, no art in the file, no art on the Columbus, Bolero etc.

So follow the link after this text and read!

If you have an iPod, Windows Mobile Smartphone, iPhone or just about any other portable music player, you’ve undoubtedly seen a generic music note icon displayed when cover art is not available for the current song.

Even if it shows up in music software like iTunes, cover art isn’t necessarily embedded in your audio file.

So, if you take that file and play it in other software, or on another computer, smartphone, MP3 player, etc., you’ll get the aforementioned music note.  What you want is album art that lives inside the audio file itself.

All my tracks have the artwork so it's not that. No need to be so aggressive either.

Plus the mk7 Golf guys can only get album artwork to work with the red cable, they made sure the artwork is embed in each track and made sure the artwork is no bigger than 500x500 pixels and still it only works with the red cable.

Success! Got the red cable and now have fully working album art and can even play movies! Unfortunately my old 5th gen iPod comes up as 'device not supported' with the new cable but my iPhone 4S work perfectly and I have an iPod touch at home that should work so I'll get that setup tonight.

Hi

Could you do me a huge favour and confirm if you are able to push video onto the screen? I've ordered mitsumi and interested to see if a 30 pin apple device (lightning to 30 pin doesn't carry video apparently) can display stuff like iplayer on the car screen.

Some sites say it can so say it can't but I'd love to be able to watch iplayer etc whilst on lunch.

Also where did you get the red cable from? Dealer? eBay etc.

Thanks

From the 10 minutes i've messed around with it i'd say no, you only seem to be able to watch videos in the ipod filing system e.g. Movies, TV shows etc.......

I got it from ebay, still sealed in the original packet for £22.

VW part number: 000 051 446 M

Thanks for the info.

Ah that's a shame, still can always watch stuff off iTunes at least.

Perhaps the wrong thread but I ordered Mitsumi interface on my vRS but also traffic sign recognition. My dealer said to have the latter they've had to drop the former. Why on earth would you not be able to have both?! Why it's life with Skoda so complicated?

All working great with my 3rd gen ipod touch. All album art works whether its attached to each track or just the album. Put a couple of films on there too just for fun. :)

Neily,

Does the video cut off when you drive off? And what is the picture quality actually like as the Bolero screen isn't that great?
