They seem to have all dimensions necessary :) I am thinking of getting the 25mm spacers, but I have never done this before. Are there any risks of wearing out the bearings doing this?

  • No spacers wheelsize is 8,5x19 and ET is 40 tiresize is 225/35-19 and it fits like a glove, nothing sticks out    The wheel is Concave maybe thats why you think it looks like i have spacers on

Iv been told to get quality hubcentric spacers. Over a period of time spacers will wear the bearings out however how long i cant be sure and is something i want to know

Just an update from my end.

Iv just ordered the springs and booked the car in at Awesome GTI a week on saturday for the Eibach Lowering Springs to be fitted.

The Eibach will lower the front 25mm and the rear 20mm. The total for the springs fitted and wheels aligned is £327 which I think is a great price. This price however was due to there black friday sale so not sure if they would do it for others.

What's the part no. for the Eibach springs you've ordered?

 

There's mention in this thread of the part no. being E10-15-021-06-22, with a 20mm/10mm front/rear drop stated in 1 post and and a 25mm/20mm front/rear drop stated in several others… but whenever I access the info for this particular part no. on any website it's stating a 30mm/30mm front/rear drop (as well as a complete absence of any mention of the Skoda vRS)!

 

Further confusing is the fact that in the Eibach Online Parts Catalogue (go to http://eibach.com/global/en and click on the 'Online Catalogue / Product & Homologation Search' tab and then 'Skoda' ~ 'OCTAVIA Combi (5E5)' ~ '2.0TDI - 135KW/184HP CUPA Diesel' ~ 'Coil Spring') the stated code for the springs is E10-79-010-02-22 with a circa 30-40mm/30mm front/rear drop!

 

Would prefer the Eibach's as they are (apparently) approved for use by Skoda (VAG) and reportedly, according to another thread on this forum, won't therefore cause issues with the warranty on any suspension related claims (and presumably also with the slightly more picky insurance companies).

Whilst the mk2 facelift vRS had the Eibach spring option and therefore wouldn't have invalidated warranty I'm yet to see the evidence that Skoda has approved them for the new mk3.

Mine has the above part number, they are actually Audi A3 8V sportback springs as eibach sell the 2 as the same they just hadnt released them for the vrs when i got mine

Will update as and when I hear from them!

Yes should do, just drop them an email or call someone like awesome gti and they will find out for you, very helpful.

This is a very decent lowering option if anyone wants a little more sportiness over OEM sport suspension, and I suspect it will improve progressive characteristics.

Eibach on (gas) sport dampers are a nice comfort - sportiness tradeoff in my eyes.

 

For those referring height. I would assume Eibach run more or less same springs for standard and RS, hence giving different drop statements in effective mm due ORIGINAL DROP from Skoda. Also, it is not uncommon that Audi A3, VW Golf etc share same TÜV approvals due same technical MQB platform - it is a simple fact of reading throught the H&R and Eibach approvals available online for free.

Apparent response from dealers warranty department further to consultation with SUK was that fitting of Eibach (or H&R/KW/other) springs, none of which are 'approved' at this time, would void warranty on 'suspension related' components, however, bulk of these parts are only covered for 6 months anyway as they are classed as 'wear and tear' items, so a no-brainer as far as I'm concerned and getting springs changed by dealer prior to collection in two weeks.

I'm now fitting H&R 28833-2's which will lower the car to 40mm below standard/25mm below vRS, which on a positive note, has no effect on my insurance premium (Aviva).

Nope… multilink axle according to H&R!
 
 
Possible they might be suitable for 4-link and twist beam… I'm no expert on suspension so no idea if this is a possibility?
 
Update: Appears they are for both multi-link and twist beam rear axle(s)… says so on the box!

That's interesting. Skoda changed my shocks after 12 months from new on my current vRS due to fluid loss without any charge. I also had added Eibach springs but they were an option for the mk2 vRS at the time. 6 months seems harsh.

Fluid loss from the shock absorbers isn't wear and tear though… that's component failure likely from defective parts or manufacturing issues, so any manufacturer would have a hard time getting past that under consumer law.

 

Yes, the Eibachs (or I believe a particular set) were an approved option on the MK2, but this doesn't seem to be the case on the MK3 - as yet.

 

Page 51 of the current Octavia (May 2014) brochure details the warranty exclusions, although somewhat briefly and with little real clarity (no doubt one of those 'please ask your dealer for more information' things).

I've just been speaking to Graeme at GNJ about H&R lowering springs for the vRS and he's sorted a price for us if anyone is interested RRP on the H&R 40mm springs is £214.79I can do them for Briskoda members for £193 delivered.

Cost €157.00 + €22.90 delivery (€179.90) - so about £152.00 delivered.

 

100% German site, but easy enough to follow the checkout procedure if you've ever purchased online before (or use Bing Translator).

 

Items arrived in about 7 working days, complete with replacement bump stops and TUV Certificate - good old German efficiency!

The first of the two is for all Octavia MKIII's except the vRS.

 

The second of the two is for the Octavia MKIII vRS only.

 

Although they are the same springs in both cases, I think they list them separately as the bump stops that come with them are different for the standard Octavia's and the vRS's.

 

These springs (for 1011KG and above) are also more suited to the diesel and DSG boxed cars which I believe are heavier.

 

If you have a petrol (1.2/1.4) with a manual box then the 28833-1's (for up to 1010Kg) are probably more suitable.

Yup... definately 28833-2's if you've got the vRS.

^^^^doesn't seem to be any difference in prod code for the combi vs the saloon - presuem not a huge weight difference and lay out the same under the car so make so makes no difference.....
