Bluetooth +

Featured Replies

I've ordered the Bluetooth + option and my car is being delivered next Friday. Just suddenly thought, how will I know if it's been fitted??

Does anyone here have it fitted and if so does it look any different??

The little cubby hole under the climate controls is shallower and you get a roof arial, unless you have sat in which case you'll have the arial anyway.

So you get a font on your roof then.  ;)

I think your getting your font mixed up with your aerial!

Ok thanks so I'll be looking for the shallower media tray then. Gone for the Elegance so it'll have the roof aerial bit already I guess.

Thanks :-)

The plastic insert in the holder in front of the gear stick has a phone logo inside it also.

Anyone with Bluetooth+ noticed any difference in call quality or signal strength when the phone is placed in the cubby hole?

I can't tell the slightest difference, I can have a weak signal of 1 or 2 bars, place it in the cubby hole and no difference?

Makes me wonder if it is doing anything at all!

Mine definitely improves the signal. I get 2 or 3 more bars on the phone as soon as I put it in the storage space.

Is that a good thing when you're coming home late?

I mean you know you can't escape with "I'm sorry luv, you br ea in" - disconnect any more now you have improved your phones signal!

Cheers, not what I see with mine with 2 different phones.

What is the difference between standard spec and bluetooth+?  Does the car have bluetooth in standard form?  (vRS)?

Bluetooth is standard on the whole octavia range, bluetooth+ is just an option to improve your phones signal..... bit of a scam to be honest as i've never had any trouble with the signal on my phone.....

+1- I get 1/2 bars with phone in my pocket, but when I put in the cup holder normally get 4/5 bars. The only benefit for Bluetooth + would seem to be the auto charging.

There's no 'auto charging' with bluetooth+, its simply a signal booster, nothing more.

I think the heated front screen that may block the phone signal? I ordered this option because I have ordered the heated screen.

I've got the heated screen but not the Bluetooth + and I have always had a good signal on my phone, I don't think the heated screen makes any difference to the phone signal.

Nope, i have the heated screen and no issues with phone signal, even my tomtom gets a good signal through it.

Well I'm glad I kept the money in the bank then as it wouldn't help my signal which is fine for me.

The official Skoda video for this option indicates it has enhanced control of the phone by Bluetooth. But nobody has to my knowledge revealed what that entails. I specified it on my car (yet to arrive), but on reading on here I'm highly doubtful it does anything to do with Bluetooth. If that's the case, it should be renamed.

Time to speak to the dealer, as mine makes no difference whatsoever. I didn't think it was doing anything!

I didn't spec it.

The blurb I've seen goes on about boosting the signal by having an inbuilt antenna and therefore reducing the drain on the phones battery.

As it's called BT+ I just assumed the signal/antenna they were talking about was the BT one, not the phones GSM (etc.) signal.

As for putting less of a strain on the battery, I personally don't think that's an issue when you have a USB power socket in such close proximity.

I've made a test today. Downloaded an app from google play to monitor GSM signal strength and actually it works : I did the test in my garage. With the phone on the passenger's seat, signal strength was around -83 Dba and once the phone put in the phonebox, the signal strength raised to around -73 Dba, wich is quite significant.

So, it works, but that's he least we expect, isnt'it ? ;-)

What app?
