poor after sales - opinions please

Featured Replies

I can see this from both sides working at a dealer,

I don't know any dealer that will collect a car and drop one off for you to use,

We will lend cars out if the customers collects as we need copies of driving licences etc,

Depending on what jobs they already have in the cars may well be all booked up as said above they don't have that may anymore as dealers keep alot less stock than they used to

I do when the mrs used to have BMW's Coopers would without question.

Well yeah essentially they have told me to try somewhere else, I reckon if the salesman was there who sold me the car was still about things wouks be different

Have you asked to speak to the dealer principle? I'd be sitting down with him & showing him your written agreement, then explain that work commitments prevent you from waiting for the car, hence the courtesy car agreement at point of sale. Alternative maybe tell them to collect car from your workplace & deliver back when serviced.

I wouldn't expect the dealership to pickup from my work as that's about 60 miles away and was not originally agreed. I live 24 miles away but as I said this was all agreed at pos, I have tried to get them to honour the agreement over the phone but as I have said they are not having any of it, hence my first point is the poor customer service but pretty much everyone on here thinks its ok, so I will leave it at that and choose a different brand next time I could have bought a 2nd had bmw or audi for a little bit extra and I reckon as there main market is workaholic business and sales men they would not think twice about fitting my service around me.

So if the issue is more about the poor customer service, then again i ask why not speak to the dealer principle or better still send him a letter of complaint? In my experience escalating the complaint to a senior level usually results in satisfaction. The fact the original salesmen isn't there anymore is irrelevant if you have the agreement in writing from the company.

Now i know the full story i agree with you.I thought you wanted a loan car for 40 minutes, but seeing as you want it all day because of work, and that you were promised a loan car as part of the deal, you should have it of course.

The only other idea would be to book the service when you are on holiday off work. That way you could hang around for the 40 minutes while they service your car,and perhaps you can complain and get the service for free.  Hope you get things sorted out.

Is there not a closer dealer or one near to your work?

To be honest there is one nearer work but they offered me a cheaper price but said they could not guarantee my free 3 year service plan as they wanted me to buy an instock 62 reg and I wanted a 13 reg so they said it was doubtful the offer was being carried over to 13 regs so I feel like they were not to helpful either otherwise I would have bought from them buts its still 15 or so miles away in london traffic

your 3 free service plan is part of your finance agreement and is valid at any UK skoda dealer.

When they enter your reg into the system they can see you have free services.

It doesn't have to be the supplying dealer, as per the T's & C's you should have been given.

As "gadgetman" rightly says it is an SUK service plan not the individual dealership, pretty sure if you rang them to say can I book my car in for the 1st service and explain you appreciate it is approx 40 mins/1 hour but would like a courtesy car for the day due to work commitments or a lift to/from to your work they should oblidge.

If I moved to another area I would use the nearest Skoda dealer.

My Fabia had two free services (should have only had one, but thats another story), neither of which were anywhere near the supplying dealer.

VWFS pay the garage/dealer direct.

All sorted at another dealer they offered me a courtesy car without even asking and will drop off and pickup. result.

Nice one

Ideal, good result :)

good to see not all dealers are the same and you have a result

I don't see it of relevance that the service is "only 40 minutes".  Some people work and I'm sure Skoda realise this.  Even if a loan car is not available (Which it should be if you are willing to schedule ahead) then a complimentary lift to either work or home should be offered.

If you have written agreement that alternative transport would be provided, I would take a taxi and bill the dealership.  They certainly wouldnt be getting my business the next time.

I think the issue here is a common one.

Sales staff are highly transient, they will always offer or say yes to anything to seal a deal. its no bother to them, they probably wont be there long enough to care.

So they don't

What they agree is never what the dealer principal or service dept offer..

The lesson to learn is not to group the whole dealership in one boat, but seperate the sales team at least. Many a dealer suffers reputation purely on inapropriate agreements with short term staff who havent yet learnt what their employ actually offers or care little to check. When in fact the dealer has a very good policy on many things.

Check service options like courtesy cars directly with the principal or service desk, and avoid sales like the plague.
