looking for a superb

Featured Replies

hi guys .

looking at buying a superb in next couple of weeks .

05-06 reg .

whata do i have to avoid .

thanks in advance , seen u guys at coombe a few times club stand always looks smart

Avoid 2.0 enginees, also check water ingrees...that would be it.

Automatic can give you big bills >sniff< but quite nice for such a big cruiser :).  If buying an auto try and find some hills to reverse up - if it slips walk away...

thanks was thinking 1.9 pd 130 elegance  .

dont do autos so will avoid them ,water ingress is it in boot or the pollen filter probs you guys are always discussing

Edited by ncc62

Pollen filter and CCM is the biggie on water ingress, but that's not wanting to exclude the good old elbow on the RWW giving your rear end a good soaking in the rear!

going to look at one tomorrow 130 elegance 04 plate in dark grey

why are 1.9 elegances in manual set up so few and far between

Remember that only cars from MY 05 -> (10th digit in VIN) get folding rear seats.

They don't fold properly, but I would not have a saloon car without folding seats otherwise you can never carry long objects.

A manual 1.9 PD is now the only Superb worth having. The petrols are stupidly thirsty for no gain in performance and the 6 cyl diesel is now too expensive to maintain relative to its value. A VP44 replacement can cost as much as the car is worth.

Hmm, this is exactly what we have, a 1.9 PD 130 Elegance which is feeling like it's getting old (just snapped a coilover spring) so many little things are breaking. The 2.0 engines look more efficient, but I understand that it's something like the oil pump is the main weakness?

Edited by jonathan.tong

The 2.0 PD is less efficient than the 1.9. Other than the mechanical losses incurred by the balancer unit and extra valves, the additional fuel needed to regenerate the DPF constitues a dead loss. Of course, the deal breaker is the self-destruct oil pump drive fitted to the 2.0 PD. How VAG had the cheek to sell these engines under a Skoda badge when they were fully aware that so many Audi and VW users had previously suffered expensive failures of the identical engine is beyond me.

VAG's trading ethics don't match mine - I'll vote with my cheque book.

Nightfire blue is the best colour for the mk1. Wish the mk2 came in that shade too. Great colour combo with the ivory :)

Looks lovely... Nice one!

Yep can't say I've ever resorted to using the matts it came with - it would be criminal. You will still need plenty of carpet cleaner though - believe me...
