Dash Cams

As promised, apologies for first pic quality !

E Prance Mini 0805 dashcam hardwired using piggyback fuseholder on  rear wiper 15a fuse (3a fitted to cam feed side). That feeds the 12v to 5v usb female converter which is stuck on metal panel at dashboard side with double sided mirror pad.

2M of mini USB (for camera end) to USB cable. Cable is attatched to car lane camera cover side with a small piece of black double sided pad and black insulation tape, so it doesn't rattle and tucked into roof and pillar with Bojo's. (you could probably just get 1.8M to work, as I had a little extra that I tucked down into the lower panel).

No pics of wiring, as that's been covered before by a few others, but camera installed pretty stealthily I think :)

  • Funnily enough i had watched one of his reviews on the Blackvue DRG500GW HD, i have never seen the need to own one before now, but i guess in case of an accident  it's always good to have, as long as

Looks good Mr Grump.

Does the GPS work OK when located there?

I was thinking of putting mine there but was concerned that the great big piece of metal that surrounds the Lane Assist camera might interfere with the GPS.

At the moment I have it mounted to the top right with the GPS mount in the little shaded area of the windscreen, but the camera is quite off centre like this and also catches the trim for the Lane Assist camera in the bottom corner of the video, so I am going to have to move it anyway.

Sorry Andyvee, mine does not have GPS so I can't help with that.

Mine has GPS and from taking it apart the receiver is located right at the attachment point of the base so I doubt it would work when located where Mr Grump has it. I was looking with envy when I saw his pictures that my lane assist free car didn't have somewhere like that to mount the camera.

If anything the Mini 801/803/805 etc seem to just not be as practical to fit in the O3 as some other cameras. I wouldn't suggest people discount them as a result as I don't think much else gets close to quality and performance for the same price, just that people should be aware they just don't fit in as well as they could do. Certainly could use some more options in terms of mounting positions..
