Emission failed on MOT

Featured Replies

I have an Octavia 2.0 TDi CR Elegance that I put into a Skoda garage last week for an MOT.  The car failed on the emission test as it needs to be below the new level of 1.5m-1.  Initially my car was registering 2.94m-1, so they suggested an extended drive to clear the engine.  After this, the emissions dropped to 1.94m-1.  So, they suggested looking at the filters (which were fine), checked the turbo (which also was fine) and then ended up asking Skoda for help diagnosing the problem.  The last I heard was they were thinking of stripping the injectors and possibly replacing them, but I feel like they are just trying to think of solutions without actually knowing what is wrong.  They keep trying to avoid running a flush through the engine, but I'm starting to think this might be a good option.

The annoying thing is that if my car had been registered 5 days earlier then it would have passed the old level of 3.0m-1.

Has anyone else had this?  Can anyone suggest a solution to the problem?

Might be worth looking at terraclean as recommended by ed china? IIRC they put a big petrol engine through the treatment that failed the emmissions test (think it was a jag) and it solved the problem. I know they do a similar thing for diesels too.

Good luck

Shove a bottle if forte treatment through the system. Worked a treat on my diesel civic

Try a tank or two of shell vpower its expensive but worth it to try clean. I feel it works a lot better than any bottled additive as its all in the fuel and designed to do it.

Also try going on an extended drive, getting the car nice and hot and using full throttle a few times to clear out the system.
