vRS finally got its Detail

Featured Replies

Nice write up Rob.

Don't forget to update your car details to the left Now you've got the new car!

Looks awesome but can you tell how long will it be before it's due for a new one? I mean how many miles and 'normal' washes in between before it needs detailing again?

How much did all this cost?

Great work Rob!!

12 months at least ...possibly longer

Always wash every week and keep on top of it

Now that's OCD! In a good way. Good looking car. :)

Thanks, the manufacturer suggests around the 12months mark maybe longer if the car was not used as much, ill be happy at 12months durability. This is a first time for me using sealants as i used to to just use waxes.

The sealant products was around £70. As its a hobby of mine i have all the gear to do it myself however our of interest i got a quote for a pro to do it and they wanted £365.

Thanks

Thanks guys, it is a very anal thing to do but it makes my life easier on a weekly basis and ensures it stays in a reasonable/good condition.

Rob

LOL.....Theres nothing 'anal' about cleaning a car properly and applying a protective film

Sealants are best for light colours particularly white and silver and Exeo is one of the best

Rob, is your car sitting on the standard springs?

Your car is looking great!

Haha i know, well that was my thought i wanted great glossy levels so thought C1 and EXO would be a good combo, my mk2 was protected with swissvax crystal rock.

At the minute yes, however I did a photoshop last night of roughly 30mm drop (which eibach do) and it transforms the car so in the coming weeks ill get some on it.

Thanks

Rob

12 months sounds pretty good to me. Maybe I'll try it on mine but first it needs to get here  :D  Then all I need is time, tools and someone who knows how to do it properly   Another OCD type guy  :D

Haha, yes you could pay a pro to do it, be cheaper than buying all the tools, they would probably need the car for 2days also.

Rob

Since you've spent so much getting it all perfectly shiny, shouldn't you be getting some mud flaps?

Will see how much they charge for it around here. Btw Rob I think your Mk3 vRS is not 'on order' anymore (under car description...) ;)

I know, i have forgot my log in details and use tapatalk app on my phone so cant log in on the computer to change it

I plan to post an exhaustive thread of me filling a bucket of water, plunging an old sponge into it, wiping the car and walking off when it's 80% completed and I've become bored.

Each to there own, it keeps the colouring of the car as it should and helped the value of my last car so I'm happy to do it :) i like to look after things iv bought and not be careless

I personally avoid cleaning my car with a pressure washer after seeing my father-in-law take a chunk of paint off of his Alfa with one. I am sure that low pressure "mist" is fine for rinsing down, but I wouldn't hold the nozzle 12" away from the car and shoot directly at the paintwork/seal as appears to be the case within the pictures. Combined with any debris on the bodywork this may cause scratches, open or split seals allowing water where it should not go, or flake paint off (something more likely if there is already a chip or defect within the area).

Other than that, great work. It looks very very nice.

I know, it's just my sense of humour. Your car looks great.

That is the reason I have a low pressure washer, i would be going back to dealers if paint began to flake off the car though hah.

Haha get a write up on then ;)

I think it'd give a heart attack to some folks on here :D

Seriously though, I do look after my kit and cars. But I just don't have the patience for a full on expensive product assault.
