Not just you, it looks gay, as do stretched tyres.

  • Sorry but i would love to see all this criticism to be said in person. I very much doubt you would be saying this directly to burks face saying about his spelling and gramma and calling him a chav. I

I have a question. I need to buy some hellaflush. Is it like engine flush or coolant flush? Also, I thought stretched rubber was SWMBO in her catsuit, or does it mean something else if you're 'stanced' ?

How about a bit of Bobby Crush?   :)

why not, this topic's going down like Bobby on an oil rig :D

Even my exposed lips are still mint too. . :-)

At potentially derailling the odd conversations going on I have a question about the above picture.

1. Is that safe? It looks like the Tyre is not supporting itself correctly and as such could deflate, be damaged etc etc

2. What do insurance companies make of this?

3. Why? Surely you want the tyre sat on the rim across the full width. It can't make for a comfortable ride?

Not trying to stoke the fire just trying to understand the mentality of it.

Oh and what the frack is HellaFlush mean?!

Ive ran it two years like that with no trouble, the bead of the tire is on the edges of the rim like it should be. . .its the sidewall whats stretched , if I had a tire what seated up on thd rim properly, it wouldnt fit under the wheel arch.

Drift cars use big stretched tires like that, they use it for a smooth transition between left and right handed drifts. . Because it doesnt have sidewall flex obviously. . .

Yes you do sacrifice a bit of comfort. . But not enough to bother me.

And we're back full circle (or should that be black circles) to the Japanese

Aren't they the experts at the art of drifting, historically?

Not really...

Some of them do look very good, not practical as the British roads are pretty crap

Not long ago, i saw a "stanced" Civic attempting to get over one of those square shaped speed bumps, ended up just stopping with his hazards on to let all of the cars behind go past, and then eventually reversed and found an alternative route lol

Most of the American's can get away with it.

Nice.

What would VOSA have to say about this? I'll bet it's a bugger to MOT...  :giggle:

Sorry, the fact that you've got away with it for 2 years doesn't mean that you won't hit the edge of a pothole and rip a sidewall open at speed tomorrow.

Oh and what drifters do is irrelevant to road cars and to proper motorsport.

Coz potholes dont destroy normal tires do they?. . . Its simple. . You avoid potholes.

Even with normal wheels on in winter I stay well clear of potholes. .

And im not saying what drifters do matters on the road. . .but if they can light the tires up all day long and go sideways on em, im sure mines not gonna just jump of the rim driving at normal speeds round corners. .

I dont have to justify what I do. . .its MY car, to do what I want with.

You might as well give up burks, you'll never changed the mind of narrow minded people, they know best and you'll just have to accept your driving a death trap and that your stretched tires will kill you one day,I don't know how I've managed to survive for as many years as I have on my budget stretched tires and cheap inferior coilovers, surely I should of span off the road in a fireball and killed a bus stop full of nuns by now.

I do notice the question about what his insurers thought of it was completely ignored.

Personally, I don't think my 4x4 Octavia is high enough :)

Having taken the Yeti on track I can say there is nothing wrong with a bit of extra suspension travel. :D

A car still has to be safe and legal whatever you do. Any mod that compromises either one of those or negatively affects performance is something I'd never even consider. Bet all these stanced cars handle like they are on rails...  :wonder:

I run 225 section tires on a 9.5 wide rim which is within the guidelines of tire manufactures so can't see how insurance would have anything to say about it,granted there are some extreme cases of stretch but I'm legal as are many others, not all stretch is excessive regardless of some people's opinions.
