HID 4300k or 5000k which to go for?

Featured Replies

NOOOOOOOOOO!

I thought this was too good to believe -- 27 posts on an HID thread before legal/illegal BS arguments start LOL!:bandit:

Mike

I was beginning to think it would never happen

:)

I should worry, it's my MoT soon

Should I tell them they are illegal, just so as they know?

;)

The slimline ballasts will -- I fitted some to a friends 12 plate Octavia FL VRS not that long ago, and everything went inside the headlights.

Was it a bit of a struggle?

I failed on all 3 cars to get the ballast and wiring inside.

Then again maybe I was just a bit conservative :P

Got any pics of a fitted set please?

I wouldnt mind getting all mine inside .

Wouldn't we all............

Ah now.

You know you are talking about the smallest hotel in the world where you have to leave you'r "Bags" outside.

Hmmm tell me something.... What are the best whitish looking Fog light bulbs (H8)?  I don't want to upgrade the fogs to HIDs but I want to upgrade the standard H8 bulbs in the fog lamps at the moment.

Cheers

I thought the fogs were HB4 ?

I have these in the Superb (OE xenons) and TT and they are very close to the 4,300k of the xenon's ... and cheap!

I have just fitted my 5000k HID bulbs from London Colour today :) Coded them into the car "Xenon headlamps with shutter installed" and they worked straight off with no bulb warning.

Very happy, thanks for your help.

P.S. Got cornering fogs enabled while I was at it :)

You do know that fog lights tend to be a yellow so that they can actually penetrate the fog? And that by fitting white bulbs you are simply reducing their effectiveness as the white light will simply reflect off the fog and actually reduce your visibility?

Or are you one of these people who uses fog lights when they are not required and you're simply going for looks?

This is why I change my fog light bulbs to yellow ones.

I am simply changing them for looks as I have them enabled with the cornering function. Not everyone's cuppa tea but it looks weird with nice HIDs and then a yellow light as you turn the wheel. I don't drive around with them on by the way, annoys me when people do that :)

I'd like to try some yellow ones.  Anyone shed some light?

I got a lead on some Japanese ones, but they got a real slating online, as well as being horrendously expensive to import.

No paint the lens though because I think that looks kak.  IMVHO.

I seem to catch lumps of fog everytime I go to visit my sister in Germany in winter.  Which is the only use they get.

Some fog really throws back a wall of blinding glare if I use the HID's.  The only downside I have so far come across.  (now back on topic?)
