In a spot of bother :(

Featured Replies

I think you will find that the rear flexi lines to the rear calipers are stainless steel braided and nobody should be crimping them with anything, obviously this excludes srphulchrave as he already knows everything already and never ever had to ask for help .. Ever...

I ask for help when I need it just the same as everyone else on here, I also offer help when I have relevant experience to share. A self help forum is about give and take.

I try and 'correct' people when they say and do stupid things because they don't know any better, I sometimes come over as 'brusque' or 'sharp' because I get impatient with people who don't know better AND who don't listen. Ring any bells?

  • I'm not one to get drawn into this type of thing, however.... Jesus! I don't think I've ever seen a post from you that wasn't condescending. The point of the forum is to share knowledge, and that's

  • I have a mapp gas blowtorch you can try mate.  Also have a small cordless impact driver which may be able to  crack it undone. I'll catch you tomorrow.

  • Hacksaw blade and run in a line across the head. Then you can use a flat blade screw driver.

So you think it's ok to tell people to crimp their rear steel braided lines...

I bet you are a right barrel of laughs down the dog an duck on a sat night.

Do you work in a dealer?

OK, so some say you can, others say you shouldn't clamp the flexi hose.... awesome :D

When I changed the fronts, I didn't clamp anything, just had the replacement calliper to hand and as quickly as I could, swapped them over. Lost a little fluid, but expected it and made sure I had towels and bucket ready to catch any leaks. Anything. Wrong with this method for the rears?

Could Hanyes not be held accountable for damaged hoses if they are advising "retards" like me to clamp the hose when (potentially?) it could damage the pipes?

Fronts are fine to crimp lightly, as are the rear ones that go from the car body to the axle but not the ones that go directly to the caliper on the back

I used the bleed nipple cap once to put over the end of the brake line.
