Lidl Winter Screen Wash

Featured Replies

Just a reminder that it is time for you to attempt to prove that your expensive winter screen wash is much better value than the Lidl stuff £5.99 for 5 l and good for -60°C (straight) and fan nozzles. I normally use it around 3-1 dilution for severe winters in Derbyshire and that seems OK down to about -6 °C.

Just bought 10l as a satisfied customer only.

Had to buy  some winter screen wash on a motorway a few years ago. It was 'good' for -3°C straight according to the small print.

Brush falls off easily though, even with the twisty grip tighty.

Ah it's back in stock then. Not in the ads up here but I'll be going in for 10l just in case it's there.

Doesn't smell the nicest but works a treat.

Had loads in my local one the other day, might go back and get some more!

I see the new Octavia with an option for heated nozzles :o WANT!

I had a MkIII diesel GL golf decades ago with heated nozzles- can't remember thinking "this is a wonderful idea". Was dropped from the specification for the Mark IV IIRC. May prevent them from freezing if insufficient antifreeze in washer bottles- but apart from that they do not impart enough heat to prevent the fluid from freezing on a cold screen. I remain inconvinced.

I had heated nozzle on a 2001 Focus. Certainly they were warm and the plastic faded on them appropriately. But all that happened with the screenwash was that it would freeze in the pipes before it got to the nozzle.

Using the lidl stuff I diluted it 1:3 and it was fine down to -12C last year.

Was just in my local Lidl. No screenwash :(

But I did get a microfiber blanket, spiced gingerbread, some lunch and I had to drag myself away from the other gadgetry. I've already got the torque wrench or I'd have been right in there.

My MK 1 octy had them as standard.

Makes very little difference as you still need the wash strong enough to not freeze in the pipes.

If you really want them you can buy the fan jets for about £17 and wiring them up would be very easy too.

And heated screen and seats. Nice and toasty on a cold morning

I accidentally     turn on the heated sets on the Wife's CitiGo the other day

She was wriggling around like she had an itchy bum :giggle:

I bought a bottle of it back in Feb when we'd just bought the Octy.

Left it in the boot and the little nozzle snapped off.... 5l of screenwash in the boot, spare wheel and soaked in the carpets.

It was the smell that alerted me to it!

The boot mat is still slightly damp underneath but it's kind of greasy rather than wet.

I found it smeary on the screen too.

I found the same last winter which I thought was down to the screenwash - the stuff supplied with the Yeti had been ok. I recently bought a new set of wiper blades (Bosch Aerotwins) as the Skoda ones had split, and now there's no smear at all with the Lidl screenwash. I hadn't realised how much difference a change of wiper blades would make, as the originals were less than six months old when starting with the Lidl screenwash.

This is the best screen wash I've found. Protection down to -60 neat, Halfords stuff at the same price goes down to -6 I believe.

Stocked up on 20L this time :)

Same here. After fitting Bosch Aerotwins, my smearing problems vanished. I've just bought 15ltrs of the Lidl screen wash which I've always found to be excellent.

Popped along to Lidl last night after work and got 10ltrs purely on you briskoda peeps raving about it lol

feeling compelled to find the nearest Lidl and go there this lunchtime.

Can I pick up a sandwich from Lidl too?

£3.00 Meal Deal  ?

We got some of that screenwash last year, still have some left too, everywhere you go you seam to see cheap screen wash.

We got 2 of them as well, one for my dads Jetta and one for the Fabia. Seam OK, and I don't mind if the brush falls off like people are saying they do, because there's enough ways to scratch your car already without one of those bloody things, it's just nice to have a scraper that doesn't put ice on your hands at 3 in the morning. You should see our neighbour brushing snow off his car every day, with a yard brush. (no, literally a yard brush) What a way to scratch your car, and he rarely drives it after he's scraped the snow off it either.

Bit like the elderly couple opposite us who will clear the car with a yard brush and then literally sit there and red line the engine till it warms up to defrost the wind screen then switch it off and go back inside!
