The dealer will instatly sell the tax disc on all his cars because he doesn't know how long they 'll take to sell* - what's the point in the tax "awsting away" for 3 months sat on a forecourt? That's why you'll often see older cars being driven on trade plates, as they have no tax of their own.

You could always have negotiated for 6 months tax :)

Actually, having thought about this a little while longer, when I swapped my Nissan for the Skud, the Skoda dealer *suggested* I reclaim the tax on the Nissan. Which, needless to say, I did. :thumbup:

Thanks for your quick replies. At least I know it's normal practice and the markup isn't too bad. So maybe they're not so bad after all. I feel better now.

In answer to the questions - I'm from near Malmesbury, N wilts.

Not sure if I have all the immobilser code info. What am I supposed to have? I don't think the dealer will need it to get me a spare key. I've got another thread on the spare key anyway (in ICE and security forum).

the guy who traded the car in must be a muppet, you NEVER leave a tax disc in a car thats traded in unless it has less than a month to run, you get a refund :P

The key'll be expensive though :thumbdwn:

the dealer i got mine from suggested the very same for the TAX remaining on the Renault that i chopped in. i got a nice
