Slight related but possibly not - I got in the way of a very high speed police convoy today: 2 marked cars, followed by 2x 7.5t plain blue trucks (with flashing yellow lights in the grille) then another marked car at the rear, and another some 100 yards behind them all.

Now I've seen the prisoner convoys before but wonder what these were carrying? Arms?

They weren't stopping for no-one.

Sounds like bomb disposal that, although usually carried out by the army I guess they need escorts in a rush/heavy traffic.

That's what I thought but the usual ones I've seen are white Army trucks.

Could have been the royal mint because I know that they use blue trucks to transport money etc. roundand they always have a fair few police cars in their escort.

We did not have any Blue Vans available as every thing is all liveried up for the new Police Scotland.

They thought they might as well break out a gaggle of BMW's they have all ready for next years Commonwealth games.
