Nov 2013 Amundsen Update Bug

Featured Replies

I have not done an update yet, but in view of your experience I am tempted to leave it to the dealer when it goes in for service.

Probably too early to know but maybe if you did a backup copy you could reinstall that onto the card.

I own a Mac and having read about all the issues of updating the SD card I have asked the consistently unhelpful service dept at Sparshatts Skoda if they would update it for me whilst the car was in for service. Asked them twice and they refused twice. Mental note : if I buy another Skoda find a dealer that believes in after sales goodwill!

Just use your Mac, there is software out there (free, as listed above) that will do the trick. Very simple and quick process.

When I asked the dealer they didn't refuse but did say it could take longer than the time they had the car in for service - so a refusal of sorts.

I used my Windows laptop & followed the guide from "andyvee" and it worked first time, it did take longer than the service time so suppose dealer was right in declining to do it.

It does not take long to update, the download takes the time, so that could be done by the dealer in advance , out of hours ready for the service.

Must be my slow system but the unpacking to the sd card took just as long as the download. If that was the same on their system I couldn't see many dealers offering to do as you suggest. More likely they would want to charge for a service like that.

Dealers can buy the SD card from Skoda :) with the maps on

I used Clean Eject and it worked a treat. It's also free and super easy to use. I didn't even format the card

1: delete the files

2: empty the trash

3: add new files

4: use Clean Eject to safely remove card

NOTE: the eject does take a few minutes, so just leave it alone and it will soon unmount.

On a side note, I personally don't think this is arrogance on Apple's part, but on the part of Sat Nav manufacturers. I mean, honestly, there are millions of Macs sold each year. They should be able to create a system that is compatible with such a popular platform!

Thanks ! This worked perfectly for me after failing to clean the disk with BlueHarvest. Road Numbers now back.
