A JBS customer recently had one fitted to a TT, he seemed to think it helped from a standing start and it should also help with strengthening the box for the 380bhp conversion he's having.

The standing start bit dosent worry me, Ive never been into dumping clutches with a pile of revs on prefering to get the clutch fully engaged before nailing it & with such a short 1st in the 4x4 you are normally in second before you give it sustained full power.

As for strengthening the box, if the 5 speed wont take the power then its the TT 6 speed next which I gather from various research will take 400 horsies easily, it just depends on the torque figure, its torque that kills transmissions. What figure I end up with power wise will have reliability in mind so whilst more might be achievable its got to keep going. Its also got to be a very driveable car. At present I have 250 bhp but a really wide powerband which gives a car thats easy to drive quickly. Ive driven a couple of 1.8T's with just over 300 bhp & they were incredibly driveable so Im 99.9% certain I know the route Im taking, I just need to finalise costs & also hopefully sort out a runner for day to day use.

Go the 'whole hog' as it were with the skoda.

Then after taking a rolling road and assessing top speeds/acceleration ring top gear and say that your skoda will be faster round their track than some fast car.

Feel pleased with yourself after having raced the octavia around the track beating cars that even after the money you've spent on it cost more.

If thats what I would term a Minaro 4x4 then I think its available in the states, Ive heard talk of it
