More power or S4

Featured Replies

This is one of those "what would you do" threads

I can spend a few grand, fit a big Turbo kit to the Octy, change rods, Pistons etc, & that will increase the BHP to about 360 with a massive increase in Torque (car currently 250 bhp)

Alternativly do I sell the Octavia borrow a pile & try & find a good Audi S4 or Minaro

My head tells me that I buy an Audi S4, (I love the sound of the V8) the money I spend on the Skoda I wont get back when I sell it but my Heart is saying keep the Octy as its so much fun ****ing people off with a quick Skoda.

Other option is to become "sensible" & buy something like a nice BMW 330d but thats just admitting Im getting old so it WONT HAPPEN

So what would you do ??

What would I do?

Buy a second hand 6 - 12 month old Volvo V70R and rebadge it as a D5. :D Second hand values are good (if you aren't the first owner :D ) I really like them and will consider one when/if I get a car allowance  Or an S60R

S4

i'd say do the octavia stuart, you can get more power than that from yours :D

S4[/size']

Can I borrow it when you get it.

Agreed but I want reliability as I tend to push cars "fairly hard" Im looking at possibly another of my European Motoring holidays so it needs to withstand 3000 very hard miles.

Jon re the Volvo, They just dont do anything for me, I think deep down Im still hankering for owning a V8 of some sort & having seen the S4's on this years Cannonball they are rather Nice & "adequately quick". Its just the thought of spending all that dosh thats off putting

id go for an S4, having one in the family the car is great, noise is soooo addictive, performance is great, power is never ending!

has to be the S4, audi's are just awesome machines.

my last car was a 2.4 V6 avante se, the best car i've ever owned.

an S4 would be amazing.

Stuart, fast Volvos are great - not inspiring but you get almost as much "WTF" as with the Skoda. As standard they are almost as quick as the S4, are 4wd, have a bigger boot for carrying wine ;) and yes, they can be remapped :D

As you'll have guessed, I like them

BMW 330d plus AMD remap ;)

Or a DMS one :D

S4 gets my vote..... :)

S4 all the way.

My mate has a new S4 with full milltek and bbs lms and i must say.

Ra!

I'd really love to see you "do up" the 4x4, although the S4 is probably the more sensible decision. (Goodness - when did buying a f'n quick Audi become the sensible choice? :D)

Monaro!!!

V8! V8!

my heart also says stick with the Octavia but deep down i know as you do the S4 is the way to go. shame the new RS4 isnt out yet and will cost nigh on

Are you talking about a B5 or B6 S4? I looked at a B5 S4 Avant a few months ago, after an embarrasing run-in with a Honda Civic Type-R. After looking at it, it was clear that it was smaller than the Octy in the back and in the boot. Not nearly big enough.

The B6 is a different kettle of fish, but they're holding their value very well.

yeah ive got 1st option when my dads is getting sold ;)

grip is awesome on them, even with all that power the quattro works so well

Interesting variance in responses, I posed the same question on one of the Forums used by a lot off Cannonballers & every single reply said keep the Skoda, some from people who have a couple of Ferraris (Also had some horror stories on high mileage S4's) Yet on the Briskoda site it appears the Majority voted for the S4.

I will spend the next couple of days finalising my thoughts but the decision I think will be keep the Octy for one more "European Motoring Holiday" & tweak it a bit & then retire it this time next year. It also needs some bodywork repairs to the rear quarter (YES I hit a steel Bollard reversing on Friday!!) So the various other chips can be sorted at the same time & Ive been offered a sponsored deal for a set of new wheels for next years "holiday" so someone next year will be able to buy a very quick tidy Octy

Its reassuring that SWMBO wants me to keep the Octy for the next run even though she fell in love with a S4 Cabriolet we saw in a garage yesterday, I hate to say it but it was rather nice ! So next year :):)

V70R :haha:

I just like to be different :D

EDIT V70/S60R any day - and only

But the 70 has a bigger boot :D

Nige if it was on LMs with tinted windows thats my mates. I was with him. :D

At Vw Festival a couple of weeks earlier!

would you be the guy that text the commentator and told him to tel your mate to give it some beans on the next run instead of bogging it then ?

Depends on how much money you have, but an S4, V70R, or Monaro would be the order of the day for real performance.

The Octy is a great car, and don't get me wrong, I love front wheel drive, but 350bhp?Through the front wheels? No thanks. It would be a straight line car, no corners or roundabouts anymore.

A 330d would be far too sensible.:thumbdwn:
