who has curbed wheels?

Featured Replies

Just managed to flamin catch my wheel on a curb! Missus was yackin and the sun was blinding and I hit my front near side on curb. Do I fork out on getting it refurbed or just leave it. No one will probably notice it but I know it's there. Who else is driving round with curbed wheels and or other minor damage that is only tiny but you know it's there and it bugs you but you can't really justifie the cost to repair20131119_152634.jpg

I have all 4 looking definitely 2nd hand from previous owner(s).

I'll wait until better weather to fill, sand and spray them... should look good as new.

That's not a kerbing. ;)   That's just a tiny little scrape, nothing more. ;)

I would personally wait until something major happens before refurbing that.

Looks worse then in the picture. Micmac what filler would you use?

I do courtesy of people in Winchester :(

Mine are totally knackered! Need to get them stripped and refuted asap... Just need to decide on a colour!

9 years of ownership and not one wheel has been kerbed or scuffed :-)

Got the other half well trained? Hehehe /joke

One of mine was kindly curbed by the garage when they had it in and they then had the cheek to ask me to pay 50% of the repair cost. A quick phone call to SUK and the garage were footing the whole bill :) I scuffed the kerb a few times in my last car but it didn't matter since the side walls of the tyres were big enough to protect the alloy. Not curbed this car (and hopefully I never will)

this has been my first comin together. It's only the one that's scuffed though

She's like me hates curbed alloys but she did kerb one on her brand new Audi after one day of ownership which I got repaired, but none done any since (fingers crossed).....

Mikejay it cost cost the wife if I remember between £50-£70 to get her wheel done and luckily it was only a scuff but she did do a good job of it.I got a mobile guy out from Liverpool (He has Audi Liverpool on his books)..Just can't remember his company name...

I got about 4yr without doing it.

Did a minor one when I was run off the road by a lorry, fixed along with the other minor damage he did.

Did a worse one when I was run off the road by a van. £50 when it was in getting another repair (reversing pensioner) fixed at their expense (see a pattern)

I always try to buy a tyre with rim flange protection, I've had a few close encounters over the years that have turned out to be nothing because the tyre saved the alloy.

Right now mine are all intact. Dirty but intact.

Me lol - similar to yours. Im going to wait until the spring when the weather is decent again. Figure they might get grotty with snow, hidden curbs, salt etc

You would have to be really careful on black wheels. A curbed wheel will stand out like a sore thumb

Tyre wear?

Grip?

Noise?

Price?

Nah, number one priority...

Rim protection!

Aha mine are really bad from previous owner (s) but no plan for a refurb. Going to get a set of neptunes I think instead.

Ive managed to do mine but always repaired them, that damage isnt too bad, couldnt you just sand it down and throw a bit of paint on to make it look better?

Most any car body filler should do... check for alloy adhesion.

Previous owner scraped one spoke - not the rim but 2 inches further in. I wiped silver paint over it to cover the yellow metal but it still bugs me. I'll wait till spring to get it fixed, along with the supermarket trolley dent in the rear nearside door. On the other hand I'm not exactly enamoured of these Pyxis so I may look for something better looking for the summer.

I've had some good result from using the wife's silver nail polish. Works quite well for touching up alloys too

Protects the metal until you get it fixed and comes off reasonably easy when you want it to.

Coachbuilder recommended clear nail varnish to me but silver works better.

All your comments referring to 'the other half' wife/girlfriend curbing your wheels. Here's one for you my 'other half' (being male before someone says got to be female to do that....) he curbed 2 of my wheels as he decided my fabia is much smaller than his scooby so only need to open one gate to the unit, not both :/

Couple of mine are in terrible shape.

I do want to get mine done as it looks much better, but then would constantly be worried about the '1st' mark on them and you're back to square 1
