Future Yeti Competitor from Ford

Featured Replies

The front looks like an American artic and has enough chrome for a Harley davidson O/C meeting. I bet the interior looks like a cheap stereo,

Johann-you are an architect with an A2 in your recent oast-what went wrong?

Can I commend to you the virtues of understatement and ergonomic and non distracting controls.

LOL  You lot make me laugh! Bless.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say.  By their very nature SUVs are supposed to look butch with strong chins and mean faces and a hewn from solid stance. This Edge has all that in abundance. So as an SUV it ticks all the right visual boxes for me in terms of looks.

JCP:  the interior pics are in the link I posted in the first post under the photo. Just hover over the right of that photo and an arrow will appear with all the other pics. Or click on the thumbnails below that.

Neon blue carpets and backlighting, with white leather...

I quite like the look of the concept (after looking at more images from the link).

I guess my concern may be if it becomes an American car with the steering wheel bolted to the right with few changes to the steering and suspension. Cars that I have driven in America (not an exhaustive test) gave feedback from the steering slightly worse than getting clear directions from the walking dead,

If they get the suspension and cost right, this could be an option to consider as well as Yeti II in a few years time.

Perfect for a concept design imo :)

Most of these Ford models are 'global' designs so the same (or very similar) for all markets. The americans really seem to be taking to the way the Kuga ('Escape' in the US) and the Fusion (our next Mondeo) drives brilliantly. :)

There's always the upcoming Ford EcoSport...

It'll compete mostly with the smaller-engined variants but it is bigger than it looks in the pictures.

The Ecosport wont be as big as a Yeti though as its sitting on a Fiesta platform. Im liking the looks though. :)

That's a rear-engine, isn't it?  With a big boot at the front?

Aarrgh (or however you spell it)!

Erm it is tiny...  I've been in them at the Frankfurt motor show and saw a Ford UK one the other day parked near Dagenham. Complete with rear mounted spare and NO repeater rear lights in the bumper - thus from side on half the rear lights were obscured by the spare!  Hmmm... Hideously ugly and smaller than a Fiesta.

See how that spare obscures the lights on one side! How are they getting away with that? I thought that was illegal and exactly why cars with these external spare wheels had to get lights mounted in the lower bumper:

The Ecosport looks like it is due to be launched very shortly,it,s already on Ford UK website.Petrol and Diesel engines ( 1litre and 1.5 petrol and a 1.5 diesel), myself I think it is hideous, what,s with the spare wheel on the back door, and it is only 2wd no 4wd version.

Tony

Oh and it,s built in India or Brazil.

Not quite as big, no, but standing next to it there's not a lot in it.  Probably mostly difference in the boot space.

Ummm.... nope - front, engine, FWD (there is a 4WD EcoSport variant in some countries but not here).

It really isn't smaller than a Fiesta.  Take a look at one parked next to a Kuga...

Sure, it has a cutesy little snout and dinky little wheels, but it's a fair amount of car, albeit with an American whiff about the interior.

That doesn't look too bad, except maybe the HUGE door mirrors.

Suit a Silver/zinc metallic?

Oh.

It must be a very big engine, then.

Ah, memories!  I used to be able to stand on my Terrano's spare to wash the roof!  No need for steps in those days!

I liked the Ecospurt I saw at Goodwood. I expect them to sell well.
