Here’s my VRS230 DSG estate. Had her just short of a month now and love every second spent driving in here. Currently work overseas in Germany and due to return to the UK this month. Don’t think the UK motorways are going to be as fun as the autobahn :(

Welcome to the FL club. Couple of questions VRS230 or TDi and manual or DSG?

Thanks, it's a DSG TDI. I'd never driven an auto in 25 years of driving and I'm now thinking I've been missing out!

Welcome and good choice of colour, I assume you've maxed it in Germany?

Had a Rallye green VRS TDi hatch on a 64 plate but back then you didn't even get standard Sat Nav, enjoy.

That's than epic photo, well done!:)

@Jaco2k looks fantastic and beautiful scenery! Can't speak for others but I don't mind it's not an Octavia :)

Agree with henners, what mpg is the Cupra giving you since you've had it awhile now?

It is hard to tell - around town way higher than the Octavia, on the motorway, slightly higher, but...

Out of the blue on this trip, this happened:

For reference, this was the Octavia on similar trip through Norway last year:

I think the DSG + AWD make some difference, but for some magical reason, in this particular situation, the consumption was low.

Mind you, Norway has very low speed limits, 0 tolerance for even slight over speeding (meaning: speed limit is 80, you don't drive 81) and obscenely high speeding tickets, lost licenses or even jail.

Tl;Dr: I drove like a granny.

Oh, and the story of the pic is also cool - I was in the exit of a parking and as soon as I pulled over to make the photo before entering the road, a local bus started coming and ringing the horn furiously, so I quickly shot 3 pics in quick succession and jumped back in the car - I just turned out to be lucky (and make a Norwegian bus driver very angry...) ;)

Thanks Jaco for those in the UK that is 254 miles in the Cupra at 43.97mpg and 237 miles in the Octy at 46.27mpg BOTH EXCELLENT figures. Perhaps the Norwegian bus driver recognised your Finnish number plates and thought you were a F1 driver on holiday!:)

A colleague with a Golf R 310 reckons it's about 10% worse than the Octavia VRS 220 he had previously. Those figures are pretty damn impressive for the additional power.

Yeah, but mind you this was the first time I have seen these values since owning the car - these are far from typical and more like exceptional, nevertheless, they prove it IS possible to get them on this car, which surprised me.

I would also say from driving the Cupra vs the VRS that consumption is about 20% higher on average.

Oh, and not my videos, but these were the roads in question I just drove:

Atlantic ocean road:

Videos look awesome, will check out later :)

Golf facelift gets DSG 7, whereas Cupra still has the older 6 speed doesn't it? Wonder how much that makes a difference to the figures - probably not massive but imagine there should be some benefit.

Correct - now let's stop hijacking this thread and post some more awesome Octavia pics - hit me with a PM if you guys want to discuss further ;)

...do visit Norway and make some equally awesome photos of yours! :)

Mine did... ;) there was a guy with a M5 in front of me and I followed him for a bit...

...until the SLOW DOWN yelling was louder than the engine :)

it did make for some pretty cold silence for the rest of the climb, though ;)

...got it on video also :) :)

Remind me of a road trip around Snowdonia (North Wales) in the summer of 2004 when I was overtaken by a 222bhp Cupra R Leon which was the same colour red as my re-mapped Leon Cupra (230bhp).Wanted to have some fun with him on the spectacular A470 but as I reached 80mph SWMBO grabs the wheel from the passenger seat and nearly caused me to crash. Needless to say I wasn't very happy and told her to never do it again! Bit frosty in the car for the next hour or so.

I took this one last week :thumbup:IMG_20180702_215350.thumb.jpg.f17f2fa680ceb6b3ccc597ad2a5eb9a8.jpg
