Rear Washer Leak - at the wiper motor joint

Featured Replies

Recently my rear washer has been weak so after some investigation I've found that it is leaking into the boot catch, at the joint between the pipe and the rear wiper motor assembly. Its not leaking where the pipe meets the 90 degree bend, but out of the back of the black 90 degree bend itself.

Can this be fixed with a few small parts or do I need a whole new motor unit?

Also, is the jet supposed to follow the movement of the wiper?

Thanks

Sounds to me as if the jet is blocked or (common) it is frozen

I pulled the jet nozzle out and blasted it through with GT85 and it seemed fine.

Just found this is a search

if the mechanism is corroded and broken inside you'll find that the washer starts rotating in sync with the wiper arm.
Theres a repair kit available from VW thats about 30 quid - was a doddle to fix mine and replaces the corrodable metal bit with plastic parts so it doesn't happen again emoticon-0148-yes.gif

This sounds like it

Did you manage to buy the repair kit from VW?

My local VW and Skoda dealer say they can't supply it as it's an Audi part number.

Well, Audi can supply it.

Part no is 8L0 998 711.

£44.63 :(

I've found TPS will supply it to me, and they have stock :)

Which TPS is it? I have a thread going with a list of branches which serve the public.

It's Lincoln branch

Just be warned of one thing though, different cars use different lengths of shaft/spray pipe etc - this I am very aware of having "lifted" a part number from here and assuming it would fit a Polo 9N! So compare parts for length first before you end up with a wrong kit that you can not return - I had partially fitted mine so there was no way that it could be returned as "unused".
