Yes.130 bhp, 6 speed box. Bombproof.

+1 127,685.8 times. The second number will increase daily. The PD is probably the best, strongest most long lasting and most reliable diesel engine VW have ever made IMO

 

Just a shame the stoopid EU emissions regs killed it :(

Bit rattly on start up and tick over by comparison to some more modern stuff, but has anyone ever complained to you about it?

Correct, no, 'cus generally speaking, no one really gives a stuff.

 

Longevity is the key word, and the PD lump has it by the barrow load.

+1, except the rattly on start-up bit. Mine don't rattle, even when cold.

No, not unduly like a tractor, but just not as quiet as the more recent diesels, like the Mercs for instance.

Yeah, SWMBO's Yeti CR 140 is quieter TBH. I still prefer my PD though. :yes:

Test drove my missus new (used) car, 1.6 TDCI Fiesta. Waaaaaay too quiet

Can't comment on the MK2 :no:

Apart from I've had to do the head gasket twice in the last year. Apart from that it's been fine.

It's what you are used to.

 

The 1.9 PD is fine, until you get used to a 2.0 CR engine.

Then the PD sounds like an old tractor.

Doesn't stop it being a good engine though.
