Octavia VRS TSFI Remap

Featured Replies

Okay, after doing a fair bit of reading on here I am under the impression that the stage 1 remap is a fairly good bang for buck deal. Also seen that some people are on fairly high mileage and haven't seen any problems.

Mine is a 07 plate with 75,000 miles on the clocks good service history. The only issues with it atm are the rear wiper and some fairly annoying road noise from the rear. A local place has suggested tyre type to blame, but I am thinking maybe a bearing, who knows I'll keep running it until something breaks.

Now, I do have the facility to remap the car myself, with most of these new cars, its just removing torque limits. Does anyone have any experience in remaping to stage 1 themselves ?

I am half tempted to just go get a superchip bluefin as that seems what most people have run (although at work we gave a vehicle to them and then assessed afterwards and the results were not that good at all, but thats the risk you run).

Any info will be great, does the revo software really justify the premium? I have read on other forums they are fairly thorough and do a lot of testing, but that could be internet chatter.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. I think I've managed to find the map for the TSFI engine with a colleague and the limits are all set to 79%.

We're thinking we might just raise these by a 5% and see the difference.

The saw tooth tyre issue seems a little odd, I'll try and get my car to a decent place, does anyone know of one based in Warwick/Coventry area ?

Thanks

I believe Protyre in Warwick have an Hunter alignment rig.

I'm sure there is probably more to a remap than just raising the torque limits or the likes of Shark, APR, Revo, etc would offer maps a lot more cheaply as there wouldn't be so much development cost to recover - unless I am being extremely naiive.

^^^^ +1, agree the more I read on the subject and the more I talk to people the more I appreciate this.

Well after talking to a nice man at Revo today I think I might be going along to them. There service is not like the superchip where it is just plug it in and off you go, they take the car for 2 hours and fine tune the map so it is individual to the car. I would suspect this is largely just a check over to make sure all temps and pressures are in order, but as I will be sitting in on the drive I will let you know what else happens.

I have heard first hand from people who have done it before in the industry there are lots of companies out there that have preset maps and will come and upload to your car with very little or none at all development. Hence the reason why I was skeptical of paying the higher rates.

I would like to get a print out of a before and after to see what the torque curve is like. Does anyone know any good rolling roads near warwick that might do a nice deal ?

Whilst it is true that gains can be had by removing or increasing a torque limit on a Diesel engine, a petrol is a completely different story. The Direct injection engine is extreamly complicated as is the engine management. Petrol engines are extreamly volatile and it is much more critical to get things right than on a diesel engine.

Thanks, Rick

I have no direct experience with a Revo map but, really? I'm pretty sure Revo Stage 1 is a generic map - I doubt very much it gets tailored to the car but I am prepared to be proven wrong.

R-Tech all the way!

No other tuner will get more power and reliability from a tfsi!

On a TFSI it does.  They upload the generic Stage 1 base map then they can adjustthe fueling, boost and timing to suit that particular vehicle.  this is why you see so many revo cars running different settings.  On the later 2.0TSI i dont think you can get the fuel/timing/boost adjsutment, its just a 95, 98 and 100ron map

what sort of power/torque increase are we talking about?
