Hello. Just after some help. My drivers side heated seat  has never worked. So I thought i'll strip it down and I noticed this .

so thought great theres my problem. However on closer inspection it appears to still be intact.

So my next question is what is the next step. ?

I have checked that there is power going to the seat.

I have a multimeter but just not sure where to connect it to check the heating mat.

Any idea much appreciated.

Here is a picture of under my seat.  I noticed a wire that goes into the back of the seat. Any one know what that does?

Also stupid question but how do I check that the switch is working fine. Whats the setting I need to do on multimeter?

Ignore the white plug, I pulled that out to test if theres resistance  going through.

Just an update. I decided to cut that blue wire and re solder it any way just to rule that out. I'm not expecting it to make any difference but you never know

Be good to hear how you get on with your investigation mate. I've got the same problem. My driver side has stopped working. Will keep an eye on this.

Update.

Turns out that was the problem. So heated seat back up and working now.

I ended up swapping my seats over to rule out any problem with switch and loom etc.

So all is well now I also figured out the wire going it to the back of the seat is just to another heat mat, I did not realise the back is also heated.

If you need any help just post up.

Couple of things I've learnt.

1) using needle nose pliers to open the hog rings works a treat.

2) I ended up using cable tie to re attach rather than trying to re use the hog rings.

3) I still haven't managed to hook the seat cover back in position. But it will do for now and I'm running out of light.

Well done

From what I've seen from my (currently unfitted) heated seats and some minor searching, use resistance on multimeter.

Infinite or no resistance = no good will either blow fuses or won't work. A little resistance = what you want, working.

Just take a look at the number of wires, I found it was easy to just measure resistance on the 2 wires and I think mine looked okay

Although I think thats a later job for me lol as I haven't sorted loom or switches at all. I was wondering if its possible to cheat somehow and interface with 12v socket temporarily lol, probably not.
