In my Fabia1 the lighter socket remains powered after the engine had shut off.

Is there a way to modify this behavior, ie. the socket would be powered only

as long as the engine is running ?

why would you need that? It doesn't actually draw any power from the battery when the engine is off.

You need a relay. 

Interrupt the lighter's permanent 12V feed through the switch contacts of the relay; find a 12V feed that's only on when the ignition is on to drive the relay coil. Ground the other side of the relay coil. If that is all gibberish to you, find someone who understands it to do the job for you.

Thanks for the idea, I just thought it is somehow configurable either through CAN, or with some magic clicks with the dashboard switches, or even with some re-jumpering in the fuse box.
