Any Octavia III vrs 2.0TSI tuned?

Featured Replies

As the topic says, I am wondering if anyone has done some modifications to their new Octavia VRS 2.0TSI, either SW or HW.

I believe it is the same engine as for the Golf MK7, and I see a lot of different modifications around, but I can't findt anyone who was done some tinkering with the new Octavia VRS (petrol).

I've read some places that the ECU is not easy to modify, that Skoda has made this very difficult. At the same time I see MTM and ABT Sportsline offer tuning.

I have DSG transmission on mine, and I get very confused when readin online, some write stay below 380nm, others write 400nm, and I even found someone saying it easily handles 500nm.

MTM and ABT Sportsline are offering 300bhp/430nm and 290bhp/420nm. On MTMs page it is stated that octane 98 is requried, while on ABT sportsline it says that 98 is recommended.

Any comments, or preferably some links?

Bump! Has no one been able to remap the new vas without these external boxes?

Last time i chatted with the guys at APR i think they were in their R&D phase and were very impressed with the engines potential! Might be worth speaking to them.

Your DSG will easily handle the torque.  I know of guys who have run upto 510Lbft (691NM).  There are alot of stage 3 GTx28 spec cars running this gearbox with no issues.  At that state of tune they tend to upgrade the clutchpacks but other than that internally they stay the same.

Thanks for input, I am not used to owning a new car, previously I¨ve always found available mapping options from different companies for my cars. I see that MTM and ABT are offering tuning, but I read somewhere someone claiming it was tuning boxes, and I don't want that.

I would prefer not changing any hardware so going to stage 2-3 etc is not what I am going for. I was also expecting more maps to be available since it is the same engine as in the golf MK7..

its not the mapping that is the issue.  Its the ECU encryptions that VAG have put into the ECU to discourage aftermarket software being applied. Once all the companies bypass the encryptions, they always find a way ventually, there will be an abundance of maps on the market.

This is for the MK2.. could we expect much more or "just" similar for the O3?

would be nice to see some graphs (even at R&D stage) from for example APR or similar.

Ove heard you can expect much better gains than experienced on the Mk2 Facelift 2.0TSI.

Yeah, its MK2... This is not APR or something like this i and is more cheaper than APR in Czech...

Would be nice getting 300bhp and 400+nm with a new map. Anything above must be hard to control with fwd(?).

But is there any torque limit in the DSG software itself, I see several places that new DSG software is available, why is this in case necessary, is it only to allow higher revs, why isn't this limit in that case in the ECU?

The DSG maps do things like raise torque limits, increase clutch clamping pressures, alter shift pointsvand rev limit's and also enable launch control

Im probably wrong, but i think i saw the DSG software updates were for the 7 speed? Dry clutch versions as it has a torque limiter doesn't it? i don't think it would be needed for the 6 speed?

Have a word with Ben at Shark Performance as were working together on a plug in mappable tuning system.

Stsge 2 Golf gti 230ps are currently producing over 300bhp and 450nm of torque with the FSR+ system

Ben's been busy with the DTUK/Shark FSR+ system

Nice but if only the torque curve was flatter to 4k! The oe curve looks well developed.

Q? What gear was in use whilst testing, 4th perhaps? Also, manual or DSG?

AFAIK, the gear ratios &/or final drive ratios are different from the Mk. 2 Octavia vRS, they seemed to me to be much

higher / widely spaced than before, to the extent that maximum speed would probably be achieved in 5th rather than 6th, & that was true

on both manual & DSG equipped cars.

TIA, DC..
