Stopped by the Police

I know, let's change the subject, um...............,um...........,um,..........how about the merits of 17" wheels over the downgrade 16" ones. This is far less contentious issue

  • I like the cornering fogs. I'd say the constable needs to catch up on vehicle developments

  • Its a shame they are not stopping the people with lights out.......see loads of cars with lights out & keep seeing the same ones on my way to work with the lights still out.

  • Must have been a slow night. It's legal, there's no need to disable them

Ah!...but did you know about the 'cornering 16" wheels' option?  :giggle:

But do they only work under 40 mph?  :giggle:

I'm with Graham with this one.

I'm also amused by the strange ideas, conspiratory theories, whatever some people seem to hold. If we were all in a pub, we'd just laugh and have a giggle, but on the interwebby it all seems to get serious.

If you can't see a car coming, lights or no lights, then you have a problem.

If someone else can't see you, then they have a problem.

If someone else has eye sight problems and can't understand traffic signals, then they should try Specsavers, read the Highway Code, consider re-training, or something else!!

The UK Lighting Regs are hopelessly out of date, but EU law overides UK stuff as usual. So we have competitions to see who can get the brightess DRLs regardless of the glare implications. HIDs were the fashion icon some years ago - retro fit HIDs are/will become illegal if not E approved at the very least.

Don't get me wrong, leds/HID are great, but I think we need a bit more development and fine tuning before we all get blinded by bouncing sharp cut-off beams, glaring stop lights in traffic queues, dazzling DRLs etc which is not conducive to road safety.

After all HIDs have been around for a long time, like sodium and mercury street lighting, but leds seem to be the coming thing. Led street lights are appearing, but they don't have the depth of illumination as yet.

Phew, I'm sounding like Graham, but then I might be a pedantic Welsh bloke as well ps(my icons have greyed out!!)

Just my very own personal opinions.

A Brisky member with a well known hatred for anything brighter than a reverse light calls them T-W-A-T lights (this way and that)!

Just shows you how naive I was as a motorcyclist. I thought it described those lights and drivers of Volvo cars of years ago.
