Pollenfilter / cabin air filter Skoda Fabia MK1 2000 1.4 16v

Featured Replies

Hi

Yesterday i changed my Pollen filter / cabin air filter.

I installed the filter wrong (Was not turned the right way) It was my fault off cause. Next day there was a little bit water.

I clean up and installed a new filter. This time the right way. No water. That is fine.

What i do not understand how can water come in there. I mean there should not be water there in the first place or am i wrong. Sorry if it is a stupid question. I will like to learn and understand :)

I am not sure if i have posted my question in the right place.

Thanks for your help and have a nice evening.

Moved this for you mate

Should get more views/replies by the helpful people in the Fabia 1 section :)

It's because it's a coalescing filter, it keeps water vapour out of the cabin but it has to be fitted the right way round, when your windows start to steam up badly in the winter and the blower takes ages to clear them then it's time to change the filter.

Thank for the help and reply.

I think mine may need changing and/or may be installed the wrong way round (I get condensation collecting above the fan vents by the windscreen after the car has been left overnight).

Quick question, is the direction of airflow towards the passenger, or drivers side? I may try flipping the current filter round while I await delivery of another one.

This is interesting.  I've a steaming up problem on my car.  Where is this pollen/cabin air filter?

So where does the moisture go after it coalesces?

To answer a couple of other points:

Direction of airflow is from passenger side towards centreline of vehicle.

Pollen filter is in a little compartment which you can see looking upwards with your head in the passenger footwell.

OK. Thanks. It is in the right way then. I'll just have to try another filter to see if it improves things. The one in there is pretty cruddy already (like a vacuum cleaner bag!) and was only fitted in July.

I just took out my filter and a few leaves and dead insects cam with it.  I took a vacuum cleaner to it.  Loads of soot came out.  Might this give it a little more life?

So where does the moisture go after it coalesces?

Out through the airbox drain hose where it drips under the car, if you've ever left your aircon running in humid conditions while parked then reversed out and seen a little puddle of water where the car was parked you'll know what I mean.

Thx great info. It is very important to install the filter the right way. Learning by doing :)

If you first i have installed the filter wrong and it is wet I think it best to change the filter again. It is not a lot of money to be sure that everything is OK.

If the thin single 'sheet' of filter is facing right to slot into the filter's frame, then it must be right?

I found there is arrow on the frame and then there is an arrow on the filter. They shall point the same way. On the frame there is a tap. It shall fit up to the house so the air blows to the center. Hope it helps
