new cars online

Featured Replies

I have been looking at cars online, as they seem to be cheaper than cars from the dealer.

A car from www.newcarsonline.co.uk claims to be 1,000 pounds cheaper than the dealer, and seems to be ofering the same deal at a lower APR. 8-8.5% instead of 9.5%.

3 years parts and labour (Warantee)

AA cover (3 years)

Brand new

pick for free, or delivery at a cost

Is this all ligit, and is there a catch as I cant see one at the moment, or particular questions i should be asking?!!

Is it really just because of reduced overheads and economies of scale that they can undercut dealers?

If so why isnt everyone buying off the internet?!

Thought or experience appreciated.

Alex

I looked at internet sites before looking around, I prefer to get a car from a main dealer, I used the price as a haggling tool, for the cheapest deal try Rainworth Skoda, ask for Jeremy and tell him that Chris Burgin recommended you, they were so much cheaper than anyone else and are fantastic, they also supply lots of the internet companies!

I got my vRS for the same price as the cheapest that I could find on the net!

Good luck!

News Cars Online don't do Skoda's though, or at least I can't find them.

although i didn't buy my octy from there, they are my main dealer and i must say i think their service is A1. and negotiable on everything, even down to the cost of green filters etc.

recomended definatly.

also, i think its piece of mind buying from main dealer.

and yes, iknow my spelling is sh!t :D

totally agree about Rainworth, a friend of a family drove my vRS yesterday and has gone and bought one today from Rainworth, they really are first class, the deal that they have done on the fixed priced servicing for 3 years is fantastic too!!! Saved me quite a bit! :D

Anyone had fierst hand experience of buying over the net, pros? Cons?

Or are we all save as houses, hedging our bets (as i did) with dealers?

yes, decided to go with dealer but still got 2400 off list price.

13180 overall with superguard, gap insurance and top up insurace to original purchase price for 3 yrs. aa cover including non warantee issues. with cup suspension and spoiler pack on standard 182.

bargain basement! :D

p.s. this renault dealer (beckenham) were ace. great customer service - don't deserve renaults bad rep although most other dealers may do.

I think i would have been tempted to buy one from lloyds tsb auto, it was a couple of hundred quid more than the price you had but you get the same discount off the extras, its not pre reg and it comes from the dealer. The firm, in this case lloyds has a contract with main dealers up and down the uk to have cars supplied at that price so you could have even asked which dealer it was coming from and chances are it would have been your local dealer anyway!
