I have noticed you all manage to use the emocions, I do have emoticons ticked in the settings, I do have the keyboard so I can select them but they do not show. We can pretend this is about a Skoda car.......can we?

Have got the boot interior panels on order from dealer now. The hard wiring of Blackvue dashcam now done as well so a productive day. Used a Waeco power saver and wired to pernament live of cigar lighter. So it cuts power if battery voltage drops below 11.6 V

Not heard about them before, just spent some time educating myself and now understand why it is in the Superb.

We'll almost a month into ownership. I think I can safely say this is the most unpleasant riding car I ever owned, it feels every minor blemish in the road, pot holes need to be avoided at all costs; just waiting to be pulled in for erratic driving as I swerve around the very many holes in our northern roads.

Has anyone tried putting 45 size wall tyres in18" wheels and does it make for a smoother ride?

Well well, more or less same feelings on ride quality from my side. Just that I came from volvo with sport suspension and 245/40 tires, so not a big shock for me :-)

I wouldn't say its the most unpleasant but I share your views on swerving to avoid the potholes.  Ride is firmer than I would like TBH and noticeable compared to 17" with 45 walls.  Mixed opinions on the wall sizes from a few people and many seem to be considering this option.  What brand of tyres do you have - this could  major contributing factor.  Are you getting more tyre noise at higher speeds?

I am currently on Continentals, seems to be Skoda choice at the moment. I have always been a fan of contis so not disappointed by them. Road noise not too bad but a Little more than my previous Superb. I have read on another forum that some are increasing their tyre pressures ? I will try this today by putting additional 0.2 bar in each tyre and see how it feels. Let you know how I get on .

Higher tyre pressure will make ride more harsh, but will save alloys. In my volvo (r18 245/40) I broke 3 alloys with 2.2 bar and no alloys with 2.6 bar. But difference in ride stiffness - significant.

Hi LS108. A mate of mine advised it would make the ride more harsh. Skoda recommended pressures for full load and part load caused me to think that both normal and higher pressures are acceptable to the safe handling of the car. 4 people In the car tonight including my wife, same as yesterday, who complained yesterday whilst on the motorway that the ride was very "bumpy". Tonight she agreed the ride was better. It certainly felt that to me as well. Perhaps there is an optimal increase beyond which the benefit is lost. A 10% increase in pressure seems to work for me. I will give it a longer trial to rule out wishful thinking. :0)

Perhaps give a try yourself and see what you think.

So what pressure you now having?

Bar, 2.5 back and 2.3 front, I know it not quite 10% but close enough for discussion.

Raptor i still have to realy sample the delights of the 18", as only drove the 60 miles home down A1. I then fitted the 16" nokian winter tyres for last 1500 miles and they are very comfortable.

HM

I agree the higher profile is more comfortable and the 18" do make a big difference. Again today, grandson on way to rugby match noticed not as harsh with the slight increase in pressure. Each to his own but for me seems to improve the ride. I use a Draper gauge which has very good write ups for accuracy and agrees wit. Pressure readings on the Ring compressor. As LS 108 has pointed may also afford some protection to the alloys.

My wife would love that Iain, she is Slovakian after all :p  I have to say that's a bloody nice one, the car is beautiful as well.

Ok latest parts arrived today. The two boot liner doors, as on my FL elegance spec it just had the two plastic retainers as in LH pic below. I can now say that the doors are just a straight swap for the retainers. Just lift up and pull to middle of car to remove plastic retainer, then slot in the doors.

I do like the colour, now there is some sun shine it really shows it off.

Now yours is run in are you experiencing any of the following:

Occasionally the acceleration halts then there is a slight power surge. Difficult for me to replicate but has happened a few tines.

Glove compartment door rattle.

She using start stop, need to wait a few seconds before pulling away otherwise it jerks when engaging gear.

Not bothered taking it taking it back just only done 1100 miles and the power surge may settle. Also waiting to see if anything else develops.

Thanks

John

Hi John now up to 1600 miles on ours and so far no faults or rattles.

Acceleration seems smooth and not noticed any jerking from stop start is yours 4x4 or FWD ?

Hi, two wheel drive.

Thanks for the information, perhaps it needs a tweak or two, will contact dealer tomorrow.

If I put my foot down to accelerate the take up is smooth and is very quick :0)

I presume you have DSG so can't really comment there, stop start fine with manual and no delays.  The rattle on the glove compartment door is common as I have it at times and I had it on my last Superb and with a few Octavias before.  Tends to go away with temperature change sometimes (as the car heats).  As a fix however maybe try those little foam back adhesive strips on the surround where the door meets the panel - they are thin enough to allow it to close and will dampen it.  I also have a slight vibration on the drivers side dash but again I think maybe temp related.

Superb170

yes it is the DSG, I quite like it, certainly the kick down works very well. I understand what you are saying about manual in many ways what I am describing is similar in that I need to ensure the gears are engaged when the stop start - starts, pulls away fine. If I don't wait there is quite a jerk when I pull away. I have booked it in so will be interesting to hear their comments. If they cannot sort put the rattle I will try the sticky foam stuff.

Thanks for your response.
