What brand glow plugs?

Featured Replies

Engine management light came on last night on my 2006 VRS, ran diagnostics today which showed a fault with cylinder 2 glow plug.

Thought it would be best to replace all four but what brand should I go for?

Some are £15 for 4 and some are £40 for 4. Obviously the more expensive ones are probably better but does brand really matter?

Cheers

personally id gogenuine or ngk depending on price and how easy they are to get hold of

Denso ones from ecp are fine

Glow plugs kind of work or they don't so it doesn't really matter as I think you suspected.

Some people have to have 'top of the range' everything.

I'd go for the Beru ones myself. You may find that the OE ones are Beru. They are long lasting and reliable.

I used ngk

Think the ones I got from vwspares were beru and I've had no probs with them and weren't too expensive either

If its an old car then I'd get the cheaper ones if you plan to keep it for a long time get the more expensive ones, though many 3rd party items are fine - IIWM i'd go for 3rd party like blueprint stuff etc.

However, as an example you may think an O2 sensor is an O2 but the amount of problems some of my customers have had with non genuine ****ty ebay sensors on ebay is surprising even an £75 fuelparts one was the same (did manage to find a better make for fiver more than worked fine), in this example the ECU expects the response and warm up period quicker than the cheap ones report.

How long it works for is more the issue with cheap parts.
