Eibach Pro Springs 25mm

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Is anyone running the eibach 25mm pro lowering springs?? Just wondered what the ride quality was like and if you had any pics?

Toying with the tough decision of springs or coilies!

Cheers

Chris

They are worlds apart, do you want a modestly sporty look or the lower than low look.

If you want the dropped on arches looks you will want coilovers but for an affordable spend the eibachs have it.

If you have far more to spend (£500+) then go for coilovers, simples.

Righto, apologies. I think this may have been slightly misunderstood! Allow me to explain...

I have owned a handful of cars and have had experience with both coilies and lowering springs. Obviously different spring manufacturers have many different characteristics and look and feel very different with different cars.

So, my question is simply aimed at anyone running the specific Eibach 25mm kit on a VRS, and how have they found it? For example, Ride quality and Looks. Or has anyone had any issues with them? Cracking, Bad ride quality etc etc...

A few words about this specific kit would be much appreciated!

Cheers

Slightly bumpier/noisier than standard, work well to reduce body roll and make it feel sportier. Needs dampers... usually either Sachs (Pro damper) or Bilsteins (B8s?) to work properly especially on bumpy roads.

A RARB is needed to take it further.

Spend what 150 more on ap coilovers and it'll be better than eibachs my car is far from silky and handles great.

a difference of 25mm only makes a small difference cosmetically not that noticeable from fabias which eibachs I've seen.

You can also plumb for H&R which is a more aggressive drop where applicable ( mines 35mm I think) its a fair drop.

Its not coilovers but a worthwhile change from the standard suspension.

The comfort etc isn't a massive compromise once you get used to it. It still leaves a few cm from the wheel to the arch so not quite the dropped look but still pretty tide.

Most of my issues have been with the install itself (fitting the bump stops on one side the wrong way which caused me the most annoyance til it was fixed). Some didn't drop their bump stops but I think mine works better with them cut down, it allows the shockers to work more so you won't notice so much harshness.

Iv had them on mine for the last year or so with koni dampers. I like them, i hear theyre a nasty ride with standard dampers. My other half drives it a lot and she would winge like crazy if they were stiff. The only thing which i would say is that when i hit a pothole/bad dip they do crash worse than standard but i guess thats expected.

Its not really bad with the bump stops sorted correctly, to the point now I'm not grimacing or particularly looking to avoid the somewhat deeper manhole covers etc that could still invoke the clunk.

I'm on standard but new sachs and there is no problem with them to be honest.

So the key thing is making sure its 100% fitting correctly more than anything

I have Eibachs with Bilsteins and to be honest it's the perfect compromise, any harder would be harsh, any lower and it'd scrape it's chin all the time, it's perfect for B road driving.

I also have a Whiteline RARB set on the middle setting which is about right. I have Cupra console bushes and poweflex front wishbone and ARB bushes.

The only way to improve the handling would be to fit 15" wheels instead of the current winter 14's (summer 16" is too big, the tyre profile is too low) and to spend really serious money on adjustable dampers because I need a touch more rebound damping. My car is lighter than a VRS though so there's that.

Apex springs

£96

Lower 10mm over eibachs for the perfect imo height

Ride just as good as eibachs

Save yourself £80 over eibach springs and £200+ over coilovers

i have eibachs and billy b8s superb combination far better than the crashy overdamped undersprung seat ibiza fr suspension.

Fitting the ibiza fr/cupra bump stops is a must on fabias as the ibiza ones are shorter ( ibiza lower from factory)

Perfect! Thanks chaps, Exactly the sort of feedback I was hoping for.

To be honest, I may bite the bullet and go for coilies... I'm 99% sure I would have wanted that bit more low after the 25's had settled in anyway! I'm not set on wheels yet either so this should work in my favour.

Not convinced on running standard dampers so I think once you factor in you may have just gone for coilies. Has anyone got a pic of a vrs on lowering springs with octy wheels??

Cheers!

Looks for pics of an ibiza fr/cupra on eibachs also as the ibizas have 17s from factory.

My first Vrs I had on Koni fsds and eibach springs

My second Vrs I have kW v1s inox line coilovers which are so much better than spring setup. Handling is transformed. Looks a lot better too.

My vrs fitted with 30mm H&R springs on audi avus 17s sits okay, rides not too bad either, just don't take the bump stops out cuz the suspension easily bottoms out!

Hey all, my first post on here but I just had my Eibach Pro Kits fitted to my 107k 54 plate Fabia Vrs which I adore and cant bring myself to sell. Thought id pimp it up a bit and keep it until the knackers yard beckons. I must say I really like the end result, cant believe I didnt take the plunge sooner. Got the shocks and dampers replaced too at the same time which was the recommendation of my mechanic, cost three hours labour plus parts so not overly cheap in the end but pleased I coughed up and had it done. Car feels great, steering slightly heavier and involving (in a good way) less lift on acceleration and less dive on braking, can definately push corners harder, no impact to ride quality that I can tell yet the drop is sufficient to make the car look far more sexy without being obviously non-OEM. I commute in mine daily and spend alot of time taking short cuts through speed bumped housing estates to avoid rush hour standstill, these eibachs are no worse than the standard springs for crashiness and feel normal, no horror stories. Basically I'm chuffed to bits with them and anyone riding on factory tractor height should consider these. Many will say to go coilies or larger drop springs which is fine, I just wish to give a public thumbs up to my choice, the 25mm drop eibachs.

Eibach springs with Bilstien dampers is the best set up available without doubt.
