Basic Power Mods & Turbo Question

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just looking at doing a few basic mods to my VRS (Petrol) but need to know what's best and worth while.

I have change the air filter to a K&N panel filter already so need to know what to do next!!!

Also, does anyone know what revs the turbo start to kick in (2010 VRS Petrol) as I thought was around 2000 but at this revs band now, I can hear the turbo starting to spool but the really increase in acceleration doesn't come until about 3000 rpm.

Any ideas guys??

Get a stage 1 remap. Best basic mod ever :)

Was thinking of the Revo Stage 1, just gotta save some pennies!!!!

That's what I have: 250bhp and 403nm on the dyno, with safe settings. Money well spent :)

The panel filter unfortunately won't give any real hp gains. You'll need an open filter such as a Neuspeed P-Flo or EVOMS intake. Don't worry about heat soak, the intercooler will deal with most of the heat, plus you can get heat shields. The benefit of an open filter is the increased airflow.

Sort out a decent downpipe with a sports (200 cell cat) then go to stage 2.

I think the turbos spools up even at at 1700 rpm  (I can hear the wastegate whoosh when I come over a small rise in high gear at low speed near home).

Had the local garage hook it up to a diagnostic machine with no fault codes so maybe it's just me getting used to the power and acceleration of the 2.0l turbo lump over my old 1.4 Astra and it not being a big surprise anymore!!!
